Better still, nothing was too much trouble for Antony and his excellent team who looked after us so well and arranged transport for sightseeing trips to some truly wonderful places without us even asking! This hotel is just perfect for a residential hobby break such as ours, and we will be back (return trip booked already!)"

"Every once in a while you come across a great inn and pub. The Royal Oak is not that, it is far superior. We spent 3 nights there, and one of us took ill. Jane, one of the owners, went out of her way to try and arrange an appointment with her local GP. Steve took time out of his busy schedule to assist on another matter. The personal hands-on approach shown by the owners is what makes this inn so much better than most. Our room was large and spacious, and excellently well maintained, and the food was excellent."

"Another enjoyable evening meal at the Lorna Doone restaurant. I now always make sure to pre-book to avoid disappointment; it's easy enough to do. Staff are always welcoming and helpful and the little dining room is very cosy. This time I had a glass of delicious Merlot with the Cajun chicken, which was tasty and just at the perfect side of spicy for me. Previously I enjoyed the Lamb Three Ways and the slow cooked beef ribs. I didn't intend to have pudding, but opted again for the rhubarb & ginger affair... My companions also love the Lamb, but this time had the Saltimbocca, which they really enjoyed."
