We (incl our dog) spent 4 nights in the Bracken room, an ensuite double room to the back of the inn. Great simple decor and furnishings . Everything you could need was supplied. The bed was a bit on the small size but anything bigger would have swamped the room. The ensuite bathroom was probably the same size as the bedroom. Ample space and storage indeed. Breakfast was included in our room rate … instead of being offered the usual continental version, we were offered an amazing array of options, anything from eggs on toast to a Full English (be warned the large is huge) or Eggs Benedict to cereal and yoghurt. My favourite was the smashed avocado and bacon on sourdough bread with a drizzle of balsamic. Quality, serving sizes and flavours consistently perfect. On the other hand we found the dinner menu to be a little hit and miss. Some evenings the food was outstanding and freshly cooked while other evenings the food could be tasteless and almost like it was from frozen. The proprietors do suggest booking a table in advance, glad we did. This restaurant and bar get pretty busy most evenings (NOT loud and shouty though). Pet are also allowed which is a big plus! Sadly, the dog menu was not available on the evening we requested a copy just for fun. We did however find the wine was expensive for what it was but we do understand tastes vary where wine is concerned. Ample space for parking but outside seating area could do with a revamp in our opinion. It just looked junky and unkempt unlike the rest of the property. Other than the above, we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the proximity of all the sights to see and visit. Location beautiful and secluded, which all added to the adventure. A handy little village with a shop, stocking all you could ever need within walking distance of the Inn. And also a tea room … The menu a bit on the pricey side but the clotted cream, jams and scones are well worth a visit.
