"Dit is het beste hotel op Orkney! Heel vriendelijk en servicegericht personeel die echt moeite doen om je verblijf zo fijn mogelijk te maken. De kamers zijn voorzien van een moderne hippe badkamer waarbij de oude historische stijl behouden is. Leuk ingerichte kamers. Als je de keus hebt, boek dan een suite. Die is prachtig. We kregen tips voor bezienswaardigheden. Het diner was goed in een gezellige ambiance. Enige minpuntje is dat het vrij gehorig is in de kamers."

"We kwamen laat aan in Kirkwall op de ferry van Shetland. Incheck was goed geregeld, kamer was klaar. We hadden een prive kamer en suite geboekt echter er waren geen handdoeken, die moesten bij de receptie gehaald worden. Dat kon pas in de ochtend. Kamer was schoon, bed erg stevig, badkamer schoon en fijne douche. Kamer en eigenlijk hele hostel was wat kil em steriel, kan aankleding en aandacht gebruiken: leuke posters, foto’s van Orkney etc Verder vonden we prijs in verhouding tot wat je krijgt achteraf gezien te hoog."

"Wauw wat een belevenis is een verblijf in het Kirkwall Hotel. Prachtige mix van authentiek (de lift! De houten trap met oude foto’s van het hotel en omgeving, de gezellige bar, de prachtige lounge), en modern (super goede bedden, fantastische douche, prima ontbijt). De Jules Vernes vibe nodigt uit om op ontdekkingsreis te gaan in het hotel. Echt genieten. Je hoopt haast dat je zou stranden op de Orkneys, alleen al voor dit hotel. Absolute aanrader"

"The location is excellent, not far from the airport bus stop and several restaurants, and it's right by the sea with a sea view. The facilities are a bit dated, but acceptable, and the heating works fine. There's a damp smell upon entering the room, which is much better with the windows open. For a small archipelago town, these conditions are acceptable."

"Such a perfect stay! Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was excellent. Everything was clean and tidy throughout the guesthouse. It had a homely but also professional feel. They clearly have a lot of pride over the guesthouse and genuinely want their guests to have a great stay. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. One morning we were out early before the cooked breakfasts were served, but it didn't matter as there were plenty of cereals, fruit, yogurts, drinks, etc. to choose from. The guesthouse is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. It's about a 20 minute walk into the town centre. Fyona and Colin were wonderful and very friendly hosts who were happy to help. Would absolutely stay here again."

"We had the most beautiful and relaxing stay at Grainbank Mews. From the very beginning, the hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive, promptly answering our questions before arrival and offering excellent recommendations for places to eat. The guest house has been beautifully converted, and we stayed in both a king room and a ground-floor twin room. Each was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. A generous continental breakfast was included, with a wide selection of cereals, porridge, toast, and fresh fruit. It was more than enough to set us up perfectly for a full day of sightseeing around the island. We would highly recommend Grainbank Mews to anyone visiting the area and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we return."

"Wij zijn hier 2 nachten geweest. Mooie ruime gerenoveerde kamers met eigen badkamer en heel schoon. Vriendelijk en persoonlijk ontvangst door Erik. Hij maakte ontbijt vers klaar met wat je maar wilde. We hebben een rondreis door Schotland gemaakt maar bij de meesten komt er geen mens aan te pas, alleen een code om binnen te komen. Heel welkom en persoonlijk als iemand je ontvangt en je vragen kunt stellen. Ik zou deze guesthouse zeker aanraden."
