"We had a booking for 16 people, 21:30 hrs - some of the food arrived cold, the monkfish was not cooked properly. Tiramisu was still frozen. The waiter did not even know what an affogato was. When sending dishes back to the kitchen, it took forever to be returned. The staff did not seem very happy and was not very attentive. When we complained upon settling the bill, the guy was very apologetic and sorry. However, he got his manager who denied any wrongdoing and they ended up charging us the full amount for everything, even though he assured us, that he’s giving us a discount. Very disappointing experience, such a beautiful place, be aware!"

"We stayed with our family in two rooms. The larger suite is spacious and had an outdoor space with a plunge pool and was lovely and comfy. The smaller double room was in the courtyard and had no outdoor space so nowhere to dry anything or sit. It was beautifully done out bit of staying for a long time I think you’d feel limited . Food for breakfast was beautiful and simple and options to have lunch at the cafe bar by the pool. Thank you for a lovely stay. My only comment is the patio door of the bigger room was broken and we asked twice for it to be fixed and it never was during our stay meaning anyone could have entered our room."

"The place is just stunning, with lovely gardens, immense olive groves, the biggest and most beautiful swimming pool I've ever seen et cetera. The staff is extraordinarily competent and pleasant. They know exactly who you are and what you want. For example, we organised a wine-tasting for our group of nine, and the staff came up with all kinds of brilliant ideas to make it a great success. Why then serve lousy food? If you keep the high season menu during off-season - we were there in October - you obviously cannot keep up the same standards. For example, several of us took a fish dish with flakes of almond. It was dry, had little taste nor flavour, and had clearly come straight out of the freezer. Nevertheless, I managed to eat almost half my portion. For starters, some of us had a seafood dish with mussels, clams, croutons etc. For some reason, virtually all the shells were empty, with the poor animals lying at the bottom of the huge dish. The croutons was the best part. Admittedly, some of us were quite pleased with their food. Another surprising thing, the furniture. Some of it was of the darkish and heavy kind, typical for the late 19th century in Italy. Very boring. The rest of the furniture was more modern but insignificant."

"Very beautiful property in the middle of the olive trees. We had a room with a small attentive living room and a bathroom with a beautiful shower. Very pleasant staff. Little bemol, the bed a little wet. Our guest has been staying in a nearby hotel with a similar range, following a general electricity problem, and has taken care of everything we had nothing to manage."

"The first thing that struck me (negatively) was the reservation in the name of Hotel Vista mare rather than mare nostum, so much so as to generate confusion. The swimming pool was unusable, the hotel communicated these circumstances to me only two hours before arrival. The hotel was not well-kept, the breakfast was poor, the staff were not attentive and were superficial. It is not clear how it could be a 4 star. Not recommended."

"Stylish renovated property with beautifully planted grounds. There are various little seating areas dotted around the property. It really is a very thoughtfully designed hotel. The staff were friendly and professional. The lady organising breakfast, Tonia, was so kind and welcoming. Pros: the stylish design, cleanliness, professional staff, comfortable quiet room, super shower/hammam, delicious breakfast, garden planting, quiet location. Cons: the pool was very cold, no dinner restaurant in the hotel and a trek to find one by car."
