"What a beautiful place to stay, the town and the hotel. We are so glad we picked this over the Schloss after seeing both. So much character and the outdoor space is really beautiful and unique, way better than the aforementioned. We had the least expensive room type which was more than adequate with a real king bed and view of the rose garden. The staff were wonderful. The restaurant was also expensive but very good. Included breakfast was fantastic. Splurge and go here rather than the Schloss which is even more expensive and not as nice imho. We rented their bikes for the day and did a 60km loop up and down the Danube each side to Melk. Bikes were very good and only 14E for the day each. This was such a wonderful thing to do. There are options with boats and ferries to do both sides of the river shorter bikes as well."

"No shower curtain, wash cloths, towel bar, soap or shampoo. Only 2 coffee pods. No laundry facilities despite advertising. No fan or air conditioning. Scene out the window was a rooftop. Would not return for the price. "

"I beautiful hotel on the Danube in Duernstein Austria. A beautiful place to stay for a few nights to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The town is very compact one street with many shops and a few restaurants. It becomes very crowded when a river cruise boat stops. The breakfast room was wonderful and the Hostess was the best! The staff was wonderful and Maria and her husband the owners of the hotel could not have been nicer. She was always at the front desk during the day to help with any problems or advise us on things to see. The elevator is a little small and difficult at times to get on during the evening just before dinner"

"Het uitzicht op de 5e verdieping van de Penthouse suite is nauwelijks te overschrijden! Romantisch ingesloten in de rots met uitzicht op de Donau en de wijngaard tot de blauwe kerk naar Dürnstein zijn de nieuwe kamers niet alleen de top binnen, maar ook het balkon kan zien! De West-vleugel werd pas in april van dit jaar feestelijk geopend en samen met de nieuwe, koussige rustruimte een bijzondere hoogtepunt! Weinen = zeer goed! En een gezellige koffie op het terras nodigt u uit om te verblijven!"

"This is such a special place. The moment you step into the hotel you are surrounded by incredible history and welcomed by extremely lovely staff. The room was ultra clean, bright and welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful and I would recommend eating in their restaurant in the evening. The food was outstanding. You can relax by the pool surrounded by history or unwind in the garden which is so peaceful. Durnstein is a beautiful town but we would return for the hotel alone. Thank you to the owners and all the staff - we didn't want to leave!"

"The Rothenhof 1 apartment has several defects. There's an unpleasant musty smell on the lower floor, the plaster in the bathroom is crumbling, and there's mold on some of the walls, the ceiling vent is hanging down, salt has been spread on the windows and floor for pest control, an unused high chair is left lying around, and the bottles in the wine cellar are completely covered in dust. Far too expensive; I wouldn't book this apartment again!"

"Excellent experience staying in the old castle of a small Austrian town - located on cliff above the Danube River with a wonderful view - we enjoyed sipping the local wine on the terrace and watching the boats sail down the river. Plenty of free parking and there is a local bus stop 5 mins from hotel if you want to explore the surrounding area without driving. The rooms were nicely appointed - large and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was pretty good - made to order eggs/omelets each morning. We also ate at their bistro right outside the castle walls - good as well. Service was great!"
