"Superb hotel ideally located in the middle of the San Gerardo de Dota Valley and still managed by the descendants of the pioneers who "discovered" the valley in the 1950s. We chose this hotel for its proximity to Los Quetzales National Park. Finally, we stayed in the superb San Gerardo de Dota Valley which is home to quetzals all year round thanks to the presence of Guatemalan avocado trees - whose fruits they feed on. The hotel grounds include a garden designed for the many hummingbirds, various hiking trails, some of which are particularly popular with ornithologists, as well as a viewpoint offering a superb panorama of the valley. We went on a quetzal observation outing (among others) with Raul Fernandez Chacon (Whatsapp +***********), grandson of the pioneers who settled in the valley; to be booked directly or through the hotel. Spa equipped with jacuzzis and an impeccable sauna and restaurant."

"Bungalows with an incredible location in the cloud forest. Floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire width with an amazing view. Hummingbirds fly to the balcony, a cozy carpenter in the evening - what more could you want? Great atmosphere in the adjoining restaurant with piano music at breakfast, a delight. A wonderful experience all around!"

"From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel right at home at this beautiful ecolodge! Our family of 4 spent three nights at the Toucanet, and it was an incredible experience. From the charming reception, to the delicious made to order breakfast, to the stunning surrounding grounds, it was everything we could have hoped for. We wanted to be immersed in the cloud forest experience, and with the help of our Toucanet concierge, Michael, we were able to book an intimate and extraordinary tour of a local coffee plantation as well as a guided bird seeking expedition. We didn’t glimpse the elusive quetzal, but we gained a ton of knowledge about the region and toured the beautiful highlands of Copey. This is a true ecolodge with few frills in the cabins, but they are immaculately kept, the grounds are lovely (with a creek running through), and the view from our large balcony overlooking the valley made morning coffee taste all the better. Thanks, Toucanet Lodge, for an unforgettable stay! We will be back!"

"Het hotelpersoneel ging boven en verder om ons te helpen met een grote moeilijkheid die we met DHL hadden om een perceel te ontvangen. Christina was ongelooflijk helpend om echte zorg en professionalisme te tonen. We zijn Christina zeer dankbaar voor haar uiterst vriendelijkheid. Malon in het restaurant was uitstekend met zijn efficiëntie. Hij heeft geduldig gehandeld met ons verzoek om de duur van ons verblijf. Hun toewijding aan de gastvrijheid heeft ons werkelijk opgevoed en wij zijn zeer dankbaar voor hun gastvrijheid en hun inzet. Het hotel is een absoluut juweel en als je van Costa Rica's natuur en vreugde van vogels houdt, kunnen we het niet genoeg aanbevelen."

"Alle recensies van deze accommodatie zijn nauwkeurig. Het is een speciale plek met speciale uitzichten. We waren hier voor een nacht tijdens het regenseizoen. Er was een vuur in de kelder die welkom zou zijn geweest op de avond toen het koud was, maar het hotel kon geen wedstrijden aanbieden! Er was een lege doos bij het vuurveld... Een paar scheuren: Wees bewust van de toegangsweg is in een vreselijke toestand en de alternatieve route is alleen mogelijk in een 4x4 Er is beperkt warm water. Wat er in de douche zit, wordt geserveerd door een mini-elektrische verwarmingsinstallatie met een blootgestelde draad die niet zou passeren patroon in de VS of de EU. Er waren geen bedsides of lezen licht in onze cabine De tin daken geluid met vallende regendruppels. Ik kon alleen maar niet slapen omdat het klinkt alsof iemand de hele nacht het dak aanraakt. De hut is duurder dan de meeste. Het restaurant is triest uitstekend, inderdaad, we hadden trot in een oranje saus die Michelin was* kwaliteit, maar de prijs van een maaltijd zonder wijn was £60 of $75 per hoofd, wat de prijzen van Londen of meer is."
