"The hotel, nestled in the woods, had a nice view, but the facilities were quite old. The sink faucets had separate hot and cold water dispensers; the hot water was scalding, and the cold water was freezing. The fourth floor had recreational facilities. We encountered a tour group of elderly people playing cards and billiards there. I ordered a pizza, which was quite good and suited my Chinese palate."

"We hadden een goede nacht in het hostel, toen we de prachtige treinreis uit Glasgow hadden genomen voor een dag met familie op de westelijke hogelandroute. De vrouw op de receptie was uitzonderlijk vriendelijk en helpend. We hebben ervoor gekozen om een 4 bedden kamer te hebben voor de 2 van ons, dus het was niet zo goedkoop maar het waard voor een ontspannen nachts slaap en een beetje privacy. Er was een wasbad in de kamer, maar het was niet vervolgens. De toiletten/douches waren schoon en aangenaam. Er was een goed ontbijt - we hielpen onszelf en wasten later op. Goed waarde. Er is een aangename, comfortabele zitkamer die in de winter een houtvuur zou hebben. Het hostel is goed gelegen, zeer dicht bij het station en handig voor 3 eetplaatsen."

"We stayed in the junior suite for 2 nights and it was fantastic. Colin and Veronica are so helpful and friendly they are amazing hosts. The room had it's own fridge and separate seating area. The bed was a king-size and comfortable. The bathroom has a bath which was a nice change from just a shower. There is also a lounge area downstairs for guests. You could either have a continental or a cooked breakfast. As we stayed 2 nights we had the continental one day and the cooked the next both were very good. The views are amazing even in the rain. We enjoyed it so much we have booked again for next year"

"Clifton Cottage was our overnight destination when walking on the West Highland Way September 11, 2025 . It will be a memory dear to our hearts forever as they were the warmest, most personable and entertaining couple that we met along the way. They both went out of their way to make us comfortable and help sort out some transportation issues we were having due to a knee injury.
