"Extremely welcoming , personable, and informative hosts. Made our family feel as though we were visiting family members out of town. Property is very relaxing, beautiful country side, interesting history, and plenty of animals to watch or interact with. We met Fonzie their pet deer, so cute . Both rooms we had were very clean and well furnished. Only item my wife missed was a full length mirror. Breakfast was delicious both days , hosts very accommodating if we needed anything special. Highly recommend staying at this property for those interested in relaxing, fun, historical location, and perfect hosts"

"My wife and I spent two nights at Sophie's Gasthaus and absolutely loved it. The location is ideal—less than a 10-minute walk into the downtown New Braunfels area with great restaurants, casual eateries and an abundance of shops too! Staying in the "Captains" room; it was spotless, incredibly quiet, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept on. We were very fortunate to have met or to have spoken with the owners and other family members during our stay. I can not say enough about the caring and friendliness each one of them provided to both my wife and I. Each are very much wanting to provide the highest level of customer experience, and they flat nailed it! The Gasthaus (guesthouse) is absolutely beautiful as is the property itself providing a very warm atmosphere indoors and out in which to enjoy your stay!"

However, the same problem persisted: the sofa bed was very thin when turned on, causing some back pain at night. While it would be perfectly fine for two people, the person sleeping on the sofa bed might experience some discomfort."

"The beauty of the place is amazing. Texas Hill Country scenery in a quiet setting with a lovely house. Each room has a theme. I stayed in the garden room this time which made me feel as if I'd walked right into a "garden". This was my second visit and I'll keep returning when I travel this way. The hosts, Darrin and Keith, are exceptional! They ask about dietary needs (and the breakfasts are scrumptious) and they go out of their way to answer questions, provide directions and suggestions for places in the surrounding areas, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. We also were very impressed by Juan, the breakfast cook. He had breakfast prepared ahead of schedule for us since we had to leave before breakfast time. He was super attentive and friendly.
