Booked a really last minute solo retreat, the walls at this place are paper thin and it seems that the blokes either side of me are loud snorers (I think they are both solo too). The room service is appalling, the jug of water I asked for came after about an hour, when it did eventually arrive I had to ask for a cup, the lady gave me a polystyrene one! The maids are very rude, thought I’d have a lay in this morning due to interrupted sleep all night but they woke me up to tell me I had to eat breakfast. I said no problem but I will be eating it in bed, what arrived didn’t strike me as the continental I was expecting, a slice of cold toast, a bowl of cornflakes and a cup of tea (once again in a polystyrene cup). The older gentleman across the hall from me said he had some cream rubbed in his foot last night by one of the in house masseurs when I asked for the same treatment they said it doesn’t come with my package, I offered money for a rub down and they were not interested. Didn’t realise it was lights out completely at 10pm. The rooms only have a shared bathroom down the hallway, although they do give the offer of a bag hanging off your bed so you don’t have to keep getting up, that was a nice little touch. Had two professional looking people from reception barge in my room yesterday morning to ask me some very intrusive questions about my health and how I was feeling which I found a bit odd. Then went on to say I might have to cut my trip short and go home Friday! The workers are lovely people but always seem a bit tired. The meal in the hotel last night was that bad I walked to the local restaurant, had pasta and chicken which was delightful, only £2.99 as they for some reason thought I was staff. Really don’t want to return here once my stay is over!
