My husband and I had an amazing stay with our 4 month old baby. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are amazing. They made sure we always had everything we needed and were so welcoming. It’s a short (about 15 mins) walk into Aix, which is beautiful, and it’s easy to get to other areas of Provence from the hotel. It’s a great base. The food was outstanding and the room was excellent. We stayed in the Junior Villa Suite and it was perfection. Beautiful and peaceful garden area and a lovely pool. Can’t speak highly enough of this hotel, everything was excellent, highly recommend. We’ll be back!

As I was also travelling with my dog, they also ensured that his trip was also comfortable by providing a doggy bowl and treats for him. We stayed as a group of 6 in this hotel for 5 nights. We were in Martigues for a family party so didn't spend much time in the hotel but we were disappointed with it. The rooms are very basic and more suited to stay 1 night or 2 max. Our room smelt damp and of cigarettes which we complained about and was offered to move to a room next to reception so we said no. The room was also not cleaned well, it had cobwebs in the corner and was not vacuumed for a few days at least. We had to ask for more toilet roll on more than one occasion and foot and hand towels were not always provided. One member of our group ate breakfast once and was not impressed. We opted to buy our breakfast from the boulangerie round the corner and paid for coffee from the hotel. The amenities listed above are inaccurate, the rooms are not sound proof, I could hear the person next door brushing their teeth! If there was a games room and activities stated, we did not see any of these. We asked for a plaster and they did not have a first aid kit, this was very alarming. The extractor fan in our bathroom didn't work and when reported was told 'it is just like that sometimes'. All staff were polite and tried to be helpful but gave us the wrong bus times on 3 occasions. Unless you have a car this hotel isnt in the best location and the area of Martigues isnt very accessible. Taxis are very expensive from the hotel and uber is hard to access. As we didnt spend much time in the hotel, these things didn't spoil our holiday luckily. One plus, it has a pool and a good hair dryer. This hotel is cheap for a reason so if you plan to stay for more than one night, think twice.

The rooms were well appointed very clean and had all amenities. Breakfast was good for the price and the view of the ”vieux” port was really nice from the private balconies of the front rooms. We thought the ambience of the port of Ciotat was equal to that of Cassis. So why the low grade? Because to start with we had booked a junior suite with port view. The pictures of the junior suite on the site are deceiving. We were just given a bigger room on the 4th floor with the same layout as the superior room with port view. (A member of our group had a superior room with port view so we could compare). Extra facilities of the junior suite were a bathtub instead of a shower, a vase with decorative twigs and an espresso machine. No big deal for the extra money. We complained immediately when we saw the room. Our complains were not received gracefully. We were told that junior suites are not the same and not all of them as pictured. We asked for a better price which was not accepted in the beginning. Finally we were offered a room like the one pictured at the site as junior suite. They told us we would have to wait till 4 o'clock for it to be cleaned since it was a room kept for ”security reasons” and cleaned after all other rooms. We declined because security reasons may meant that somebody with Covid had used it and also it was on the second floor and exactly opposite the crane which yes it is vintage and a piece of art but you don't get the best view of the port. Finally we were given a 10% reduction on the initial price at check out. The whole experience was far from nice. We could overcome this first problem if that was all. The second reason I give a low grade and I say avoid between the 15th and 21st of August unless you go to sleep in the morning hours and noise does not bother you, is that from the 15th to 21st of August there are festivities at the port at an open space next to the hotel. There was a band on the 16th of August till 1.15 after midnight. Loud rock music which made it impossible to sleep. Closed windows didn't help at all. The least the hotel should do was to warn the customers when booking. Very bad experience. When we complained the answer was ”You should take a room at the back. In front you have views” so it does not matter if one cannot sleep. The problem really is caused by the city of Ciotat but it is totally disrespectful for the customers of the Hotel.

My husband and I stayed at Le Rhul for 2 nights and really enjoyed the property and the views. Definitely book a room with a view, as this will make your stay memorable. The room was fairly large with a roomy bathroom. There was a fridge in the room which was an added bonus (we would have loved a coffee maker, but there wasn't one). The bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. There is no elevator, so be prepared to drag luggage up the stairs. Staff was friendly, and spoke a little English, but they were certainly happy to help out with my French, which I appreciated. Our room had a very large window that opened up to the water. In the daytime, you can see all kinds of sailboats, swimmers, and people climbing on the rocks below. At night, you can spot a lighthouse in the distance. The restaurant could be improved, but we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Breakfast consisted of yogurt and bread. Not really worth the 10 Euro price, but hey - you have the view to look at while eating in bed. There's a busy road out front, but this didn't affect our sleep at all. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the area that are walkable, and the pizza place nearby was to die for! We will certainly return when visiting M****ille in the future.
