Meliá has a very good location, just opposite Inya Lake. While the interior design is simple and not very modern, the facilities and service are great. It would be nice if a sauna and jacuzzi were available and provide briefing while check in. The breakfast is amazing. I was surprised to see both a café counter and an ice cream counter during the breakfast session. However, they did not offer any complimentary service for birthday or anniversary requests.

Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era. What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. Oud luxehotel - resortstijl, groot zwembad, geweldig ontbijt, ruime kamers. Ze moeten het renoveren, maar het is nog steeds erg mooi. Oh, trouwens. Het is lastig om restaurants in de buurt te vinden - wees voorbereid op een taxi voor het geval dat. Maar ze hebben een 24-uurs supermarkt op de begane grond. En - heel vreemd voor een hotel van dit niveau - er was een probleem met de executive lounge. Die stond in mijn boeking, maar ze weigerden me toegang te geven: ”Er was een fout in de kamerbeschrijving”. Jongens, het is echt niet mijn probleem, toch? Ik had geen zin in harde onderhandelingen, dus... laat het lot het maar bepalen. En ze hebben geen lokale shuttlebus (ja, er staat een fout op de website van het hotel). Haha.

It is not quite easy to put a fair review for this hotel. At a very first glance, with the ongoing political unrest in Myanmar, the effort to reopen the hotel and rehire all the staff deserve a great compliment. Nonetheless, the shortfall in service and amenities should not be compromised with the situation and some area such as cleanliness should not fall short especially when the hotel priced themselves at the highest in the city. The management should really consider to focus on guests service and sincere hospitality and that they can have customers who are willing to pay at any price rather that worked any way possible to cut the cost and let the staff to deal with insufficient amenities and services.

As a solo female traveler, I truly appreciated the hotel’s professional travel information and thoughtful safety reminders. They made me feel well-supported throughout my entire stay in Yangon. The staff were always kind, attentive, and ready to help whenever I had questions about transportation or places to visit. Thanks to their guidance, everything went smoothly and I felt very safe exploring the city on my own. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options, and the view from the hotel was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other solo travelers looking for a comfortable and reliable place to stay in Yangon.

Het personeel is erg vriendelijk. Ik denk dat de gasten die hier verblijven vooral locals zijn en niet buitenlanders. Het was fijn dat het precies had wat ik nodig had voor een betaalbare prijs. Ik heb ook genoten van het ontbijt. Het was fijn dat het schoon en rustig was. Als je van plan bent om de binnenstad te gaan verkennen, is het ongeveer 10 minuten met de taxi, dus ik denk dat het wel goed komt.

The staff were very accommodating, from the receptionists to housekeeping💙 I stayed here for only one day as I extended my trip by a day. Don’t expect too much from the amenities, as the hotel is half the price of others with similar facilities—which is why it’s a good option😊 The breakfast buffet had limited options but was still decent —- They have a section where you can ask a staff member to cook an egg/omelet for you, but I didn’t explore the other options (breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, which is great if you have early morning plans, as it gets really hot once the sun rises during this month)…. The hotel has a gym, sauna, and pool. The room includes a TV, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries, and complimentary water and coffee….. The only downside was that hot water is not available 24 hours during my stay…. According to the receptionist, hot water is available only during specific hours to adhere to electricity conservation, if I’m not mistaken.. (if I’m not mistaken, starting from 9 AM, but I’m not sure until when) as they have I only realized this when I was about to shower around 8:30 PM and found that only cold water was available. I called the receptionist, and they sent housekeeping to assist…. I’m not sure if it’s a temporary thing only so if you’re concern with this, you can message them first… It’s still a good place to stay, even if it’s a bit far from the tourist spots, as Grab is available at a very reasonable price for getting to the places you want to visit.

The hostel is located in the old town, not far from the central train station. The lobby is on the first floor, and the rooms are on the second and third floors. Bed linens are changed after each guest. There's a table in the room, but the window is poorly maintained and can't be closed. A helpful young man at the front desk speaks some Chinese. The other staff only speak the local language, so communication was difficult. When I checked out, the front desk asked me to pay for the last night's stay, even though I had already paid. They said they hadn't received it, but thankfully the young man who speaks some Chinese came out and confirmed that I had paid in full.
