I initially thought I had booked a regular room, but it turned out to be a dormitory-style capsule instead. If you’re traveling light, this place may suit you, but there isn’t much space to store luggage. There’s no locker or safe provided.
Amenities are not complimentary, each item, including bottled water, costs 100 yen. Upon checkout, you’re required to remove the bedsheet and pillowcase yourself. Also, note that the showers are only available until 10:30 pm.
Personally, I found the place unsuitable for my needs and decided to move to another proper hotel nearby.
One more thing to be aware of: the property is located near a temple, and the surrounding area has no streetlights at night. Walking back via that route can feel quite eerie, so it’s safer to stick to the main road along the river.

This hotel is very good location, it's beside of Osu market, a 4-minute walk to Kamimazsu Station. It's very convenient location, full of shopping places, and restaurants. The hotel is very clean and warmly welcomed by the reception staff. The capsule in each room is good security by the digital lock door 🚪, I can stay here with nice sleep. There are vending machine in front of hostel, it's all convenient.

Very Good
AAnonymous UserThe facilities were comfortable and clean. The bed was relatively short/tiny even for a short person like me (153cm). I really liked how the staff would ensure that lights would be closed by 10PM. Staying near Nagoya station meant that there were bus terminals and every train type to access to easily. I also really liked the free flow for drinks (coffee/tea/water hot&cold). There were bowls and utensils to use for food as well. While staying on the highest floor, having an elevator was really nice.
Despite this my stay was quite inconvenient. All of the amenities cost 50-600¥. I had to rent a towel and after checking out the baggage storage was 600¥ to store from 10AM-11PM. When I arrived at 1PM to check in or at least leave my luggage, the hostel was closed. Luckily the accommodation was only 7min away from Nagoya station and I could leave my luggage in the coin lockers. One really inconvenient at least for the ladie’s dorm was the baggage corner and the size of it. It was not allowed to keep bags within the bedroom (understandably). However I had a lot of baggage and the baggage storage corner within the same floor was really tiny and cramped. I used double the time than normal to unpack and repack because I had to bring stuff that I needed for shower and to the bed. At the same time I had to dodge people coming in and out the whole time.
For some reason in the morning the bedroom door was kept open and I don’t know if it’s part of the rules, similar to the switching off the lights at 10PM.
I’ve had a more convenient stay with similar cost in other places in japan with free amenities. This was really disappointing :/
LlinniiPerfect for short stays. Located near Nagoya Station - making taking JR/Shinkansen and the subway very easy. There’s plentiful restaurants around and the capsules were rather comfortable. Things to note is that they are unable to store luggage and you need to be out of the capsule rooms between 11-3, you can stay in the L10 lounge if you need somewhere to rest. They have lockers for you to store your stuff and is locked via. a QR code. The locker area is a bit tight for space but will be fine if you don’t stay for long-term and need to sort your luggage constantly. The showers were decently sized and there were enough bathrooms for use provided that it’s not rush hour. Overall, the experience was good and I would definitely stay at another 9h hotel for its price, comfort and convenience c:
GGuest UserThe room is relatively simple, and the building itself is relatively old, and it looks like it is 40-50 years old. The old lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic, and at this age, she is still very enthusiastic about work. I admire her. The sound insulation of the room is not very good.
It is about 1 km away from Nagoya JR Station. If you walk, it will take about 10 minutes.
Shopping, eating, and transportation are very convenient around Nagoya Station.
The biggest disadvantage of the hotel is that the wifi signal is too poor. Whether it is the hotel’s own WIFI (it can’t be used at all, it’s the same as not having it) or the WIFI you brought from China, the signal is very poor. If you are in a hurry, you will go crazy.
Toothpaste, bath towels, slippers, all available.
But the price is relatively affordable.

GGuest UserOur group of three females arrived and was denied check-in because the rooms were for ”Males Only.”
This restriction was not clearly stated during the selection process. On the Trip.com interface, several room options were explicitly labeled [Male Only]. However, the rooms we selected had no gender label in the title. As a consumer, it is logical to assume that if one option is marked ”Male Only” and another is not, the unlabeled option is for females or unisex. This critical information was omitted from the main room title and only found deep in the reservation details after booking. This is misleading UI design for a gender-restricted property.
We were stranded at the airport without accommodation due to this lack of transparency, without refund, and told that it was solely our fault.
However, despite sudden show up, Toyoko inn welcome us with cheaper price, better room and free breakfast. I highly recommended Toyoko inn.
Thank you TUBE Sq for your kind support, but please response to our cancellation request due to this whole nonsense error.
And, lastly, may we never see you again.
TTGaborVery good value for the money! You can book 15 days to make it cheaper. Hopefully they will fix that one broken washing machine by the time I'm back, because only 2 were working during my 3 weeks in Nagoya (mostly in this hotel). Two washing machines is not much for this many people. Also a small gym would be a good idea there - a Japanese man who I was talking to there, was also mentioning this. And thank you for the helpful staff (esp: Suzuki, Chie, Arjun)!

YYIT SINNever disappointed with Japan hostel. Clean, quiet, organised etc. This hostel is very strategic location in Osu (大须) Shotengai Shopping Street and having nearby train station. It is also walking distance to Sakae area. A must visit Osu plus stay for solo Travellers. Afternoon shopping can put groceries at hostel and continue shopping again. The instructions in English is very clear, the bed in room is very clean etc.
HHugenihaoaThis is the second time I stayed at the Shochikumei Hotel. The hotel seems to be a renovation of the former workers' dormitory. It is within a ten-minute walk from Nagoya Station. It is two stops away from Sakae Station, and the transportation is very convenient.
The hotel room is small, but very clean, and disposable toothbrushes and slippers are provided.
The bathroom and toilet are public, relatively clean and sanitary. I will stay here again next time, mainly because it is cost-effective.
