Beach hotels in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan

The room was spacious, but unfortunately, our assigned room was slightly off-center from the sea view. The public areas, however, were absolutely beautiful and uncrowded, making for a very relaxing experience. The cliffside hotel offered breathtaking views from its elevated position, especially the sea views at sunset and under the daytime sun – a stunning expanse of blue sky and ocean. One spot even reminded me of Jiuzhaigou! The pool area was surrounded by various hydrangeas, which was lovely. The nearby Kotoda Coast was also gorgeous, even more so than Tsumekizaki. The teppanyaki beef at Xiaoting was tender and delicious, the set meal was generous, and it even came with ice cream. Definitely worth a return visit.

This was my first time visiting Minamiizu, and a friend recommended this hotel – it truly lived up to expectations! The accommodations were great, and the food was delicious. My only complaint is regarding the shuttle service. The day before check-in, I specifically asked about pickup details through Trip.com customer service. The hotel only sent a text message with the pickup time, but not the location. I assumed, like most hotels, that it would pick up in front of the JR station. To my surprise, I waited from 2 PM to 3 PM and saw no sign of the hotel bus. I started to feel something was wrong and checked Trip.com, where I saw a guest comment mentioning that after 3:10 PM, there would be no more pickups. Panicked, I immediately called the hotel. That's when I learned the hotel bus has a specific waiting point, around the corner, to the right of the JR station (and then to the right again). If this isn't communicated beforehand, and there are no signs at the station, it's impossible for guests to know where to wait. Therefore, I strongly suggest the hotel standardize its pickup service by clearly stating both the pickup time and location in advance. Both pieces of information are essential!

We had a wonderful stay at Yokikan. My husband especially loved the outdoor hot springs — it was one of the highlights of our trip. Staying here was a truly special experience and gave us a real sense of Japanese culture. All the staff were very kind, attentive, and took great care of us. The owner also kindly drove us back to the station when we checked out, which we really appreciated. The garden was beautiful, with a small waterfall and lovely koi fish. We will remember this stay for a long time!

This guesthouse is fantastic! It's an easy 8-minute walk from the train station and super convenient with two large supermarkets, a drug store, a 7-Eleven, and plenty of restaurants nearby. It’s a traditional Japanese-style home, and the breakfast is delicious and beautifully presented—the rice, fish, and soup were all excellent. The owner is incredibly welcoming and even offered to drive us to tourist spots and the station. The room was spotless and cleaned daily. The several Chinese-speaking staff members were also wonderful, making communication easy. I'll definitely stay here again when I visit Izu and have already recommended it to my friends.

I stayed for five nights and chose Imahama Tokyu Hotel over Shimoda Tokyu Hotel, mainly because it's within walking distance to the station, even without using the hotel shuttle. We arrived in Tokyo at 2 PM by plane, so we definitely missed the hotel shuttle. We took a train to Imahama station ourselves, but that station was a pain – no elevator, so we had to carry all our luggage down. Also, the Izu area at night can be a bit spooky with limited street lighting. Ms. Masaki, who checked us in, was very friendly. Later, she even provided emergency first aid for my family and me, which was much appreciated. However, some individual staff members at this hotel weren't very friendly towards foreign guests. Perhaps it's because they mainly cater to local tour groups. Some rude interactions made me uncomfortable, but this was only with a few staff members; most were friendly. Breakfast quality was decent and offered a good variety. Due to personal taste, my options were limited, but every morning there was a freshly prepared item, and they were all quite good. I especially liked the tempura fish and croquettes. The young man frying the croquettes was also very enthusiastic. This hotel also provides a microwave, ice machine, washing machine, and dryer. We didn't use the washing machine and dryer due to questionable hygiene concerns, but the microwave was very convenient. We'd often return to our room in the afternoon for a break and could easily heat up some simple food. The room cleaning service was excellent; it was spotless every day. My only regret is that the sofa bed was uncomfortable. When unfolded, the headrest area sank in, causing neck pain, unlike sofa beds in other hotels. Of course, Ms. Masaki did suggest upgrading to a room with a proper bed for an extra charge during check-in, but I decided against it due to the cost. Additionally, there were a lot of mosquitoes and flying insects in the summer here. We killed several mosquitoes and flies in our room and were bitten during breakfast. After the first night when we enjoyed the view from the balcony, we didn't dare open it again because there were too many bugs, especially at night. I suggest the hotel implements some pest control measures, like mosquito repellent lamps or wall-mounted insecticides (my family uses these every summer to treat our balcony walls).

Amazing place to stay,aesthetic view and a great amazing dinner and breakfast ambience. I choose and booked the private villa with pool and which is good,I enjoyed the dinner foods they served us,so classy and elegant presentation. So I ordered the bottle of botega champagne which is fit for the foods they offered. Lovely it was and amazing wonderful evening. After we had a night pool with my partner and we bring our own foods and drinks champagne for the long night to celebrate our stay. I’m very satisfied for my stay at this place. Staff was really nice and good at their service. Perfect 👌 I love to came back again soon… Thank you so much 🤞🏻❣️

Conveniently located near Shimoda Port and Black Ship Museum, it's also an easy walk from Shimoda Station and other local attractions. Our room had a lovely sea view. The service was excellent, very polite and welcoming. The facilities were great; we booked a room with a private open-air onsen, which was very convenient, and there's also a public large bathhouse and a kids' play room. The cleanliness was top-notch.

The room was spacious and quiet. The front desk staff spoke Japanese and English and were very friendly. The view was also great, with the ocean right outside the window. You could hear the sound of the waves with the window open, but it was well soundproofed when closed. It had two beds and a large tatami mat, which could fit two people, making it a room for four in total. There's free parking, and the hotel was clean. The shower and bedroom were separated, which was a nice touch. Very satisfied.

Бар работающий с 20 до 22 часов и бармен Хироку , который готовил нам коктейли отличный джин-тоник за 300 йен -это просто подарок !!! Хироку тебе привет от девчонок из России и спасибо за отдых !! Комнаты чистые и уютные ! Вещи можно было оставить после выезда и сходить на пляж ЗАВТРАКИ ! Таких завтраков я ни в одной гостинице в Японии не ела )) омлет , овощи , фрукты , панкейки и безлимитный кофе 🙏🥰 Вид с обрыва шикарен 🥹 отель Сирахама очень милый и уютный ! Рекомендую 🥲🙏 Трансфера к сожалению не оказалось ((( Но я бы вернулась сюда ещё 😍✨🫠🙏

This hotel is about a 10-13 minute walk from Atami Station, or a one-stop taxi ride. Its biggest selling point is the multiple free private open-air baths on the rooftop, offering stunning views of Sagami Bay. The quality of their natural hot spring, which flows directly from its source, receives high praise. The ocean-view Japanese-style rooms are spacious. While the architecture leans towards a retro Showa-era style, it does show some signs of age, and some facilities are a bit worn. The dining quality isn't quite on par with top-tier ryokans. For the return trip to the station, it's an uphill walk, so taking a taxi or using a luggage delivery service is recommended. It's perfect for vacationers who want to enjoy great hot springs, ocean views, and a traditional ryokan atmosphere. Highly recommended!
