Ik wil vooral wijzen op het ontbijt in de B&B. De geschoren noedels gemaakt door de chef-kok zijn echt de lekkerste die ik in Datong heb gegeten, ik vind ze persoonlijk heerlijker dan die in Xijin Road hahahaha

The hotel beautifully blends traditional Chinese architecture with modern elegance, offering a serene and spotless environment that feels both authentic and refined. Their attention to detail made the experience truly memorable, from the thoughtful room touches to the warm service at every interaction. The team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast was another highlight, with a wonderful selection of freshly prepared dishes that were both delicious and beautifully presented. De antieke stijl is zeer schoon en de locatie is zeer goed. Het is handig om naar de Huayan-tempel en de stadspoort te gaan om de lantaarns te zien, Zini 369, enz. Beneden ligt Jinxi Road, die op loopafstand ligt. Het ontbijt in de herberg is bijzonder heerlijk, vooral de pannenkoeken en haggis. Een speciaal bedankje. Het sneeuwde in de ochtend toen we vertrokken. Nadat we vroeg waren vertrokken, was de snelweg afgesloten en was de ingang lange tijd geblokkeerd. We hebben niet ontbeten en stonden lange tijd in de file. De volwassenen en de kinderen waren erg hongerig en moe, dus moesten we terug naar de herberg om te eten. We vertrokken na het ontbijt en de baas was erg vriendelijk en ontving ons weer. Bedankt, het was geweldig. Ik zal hier de volgende keer weer verblijven keer dat ik naar Datong kom?

Ik heb gemengde gevoelens over deze herberg. De reden dat ik deze plek heb geboekt, is vanwege de hoge beoordeling en de locatie in de oude stad. De service is echt goed. De dame bij de receptie kwam ons ophalen en begeleidde ons naar de herberg. Er is een shuttlebus die je vanaf een bepaalde gate naar hun herberg brengt, maar we moesten meer dan 30 minuten wachten op deze service, waarna ik mijn klacht heb geuit. De dame bij de receptie heeft zichzelf goedgemaakt door me een kamerupgrade aan te bieden, wat erg fijn is. Eén ding dat ik wil benadrukken, is dat er veel trappen naar boven zijn in de binnenplaats vanwege de historische aard van de bouwstijl, waardoor het niet gemakkelijk is om grote koffers te tillen. Daarnaast is er een fotoservice die duurt tot 10:30 tot 11:00 uur. Ik raad je aan om een ​​rustige kamer in de binnenplaats te boeken. Verder ben ik tevreden over de service en het is een prachtige herberg.

We loved our stay in Taiyuan and this was probably the best overall hotel of our trip! If you can't find it in the alley simply walk into the most beautiful entrance. The interior designer must have been happy as well, lots of nice artwork and style, very nice room, comfy bed, great breakfast buffet. Perfect location yet quiet, in the old centre full of shops and restaurants, buzzy nightlife, don't miss the 'Paris Baguette' in the same alley! By the way, to get to the wonderful Jinci Temple we simply took the subway to Xiqiao and then a Didi.

Unfortunately, the overall stay was not great. When we booked the hotel, we specifically requested a non-smoking room, which is essential for us because of health issues. After double confirming with the hotel that they have non-smoking rooms (based on the website, all rooms are non smoking), we paid for our booking. However, shortly after, they informed us that smoking in hotel rooms is common and unavoidable in Taiyuan. We felt deceived into making the payment and realized we were stuck with this accommodation for our 7-day stay. Upon checking in, we had to request a room change due to a strong smoke smell in the original room. The second room was better and the hotel staff was nice enough to provide an air purifier. Throughout our entire stay, people were smoking in the elevator, lobby, and even at the dinner table. If we had known this beforehand, we would have reconsidered staying here. For a 5-star hotel, it did not meet our expectations, and unfortunately, we paid far too much for this experience. The only highlight of our stay was the hotel staff. They were always friendly, helpful, and did their very best to serve the guests, which made our trip a bit more enjoyable. We thank them for their excellent service.

What a pleasant surprise this stay was! (´▽`) The location is excellent, right next to the district government and very close to the ancient city, making it super convenient for getting around. There's a delicious knife-cut noodle place nearby that opens at 6:30 AM, and the Tangjiu convenience store next door also opens early. The first floor has a lovely book bar where you can borrow books for free, and they serve coffee and cocktails – perfect for enjoying a drink while reading. So many interesting books too! I also really loved their decor; the tatami mat rooms have a dedicated reading table, and the mattress was incredibly comfortable. The disposable amenities were comprehensive, and that horse oil toiletries set left me feeling moisturized inside and out (in a good way!). What really stood out during my stay were the front desk ladies. They were all so wonderful, always greeting us warmly when we returned. Their service was incredibly attentive and so heartwarming! 🥺 Any request we had was met quickly. Thanks to them, I've been sleeping so well these past few days 555. I really don't want to leave! I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong. I've already highly recommended it to all my friends! (￣∇￣)

Every detail of this hotel was top notch! It was our first time in Datong, and staying at pingcheng hotel was one of the best decision we made! From the moment you arrive they greet you with a welcome drinks and fruits! The foot bath service felt amazing after a long day walking around the grottoes. The hotel is located in the quieter quarter of the ancient city. I would totally go back to stay at this hotel! They even got us a bag of Shanxi souvenirs!💖 The only thing I'd recommend to improve would be the breakfast selection. Adding cheese & ham and some other continental breakfast option would be great for foreign tourists.
