妻籠から馬籠までの中山道の途中に出てくる名所です。

男と女の滝と言う所で吉川英治の宮本武蔵に出てくるお通との男女の舞台ともなっている、お通はどうか判らないが、宮本武蔵や柳生など諸国を修業して歩く侍は一度は通っている道であると思う。夏の暑い時期は水の流れは涼みを与えてくれるので昔の旅人の憩いの場所になった事は想像が出来る。周りには野生の紫陽花が綺麗に咲いていた。雌滝から上に登ると車道に出るので車道からのアクセスも出来る。
