As a result, trains will not run between Stafford and Wolverhampton and will instead divert via alternative routes. There is an amended timetable in place to allow a service to continue to run. Therefore, your journey may be cancelled or revised to terminate or start at different stations. Trains that are scheduled to run from different stations may be delayed. Caledonian Sleeper services will be diverted and will therefore be unable to serve Birmingham International. Major disruption is expected to continue until 12:30. Avanti West Coast customer advice: Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on the following services: CrossCountry between: Manchester Piccadilly and Stafford. Birmingham New Street and Coventry. Edinburgh and Birmingham New Street. London Northwestern Railway between: Liverpool Lime Street and Stafford. Wolverhampton and Rugby. Stafford and Rugby via Nuneaton. Birmingham New Street and London Euston. TransPennine Express between: Edinburgh / Glasgow Central and Wigan North Western. Rail replacement road transport to shuttle between Stafford and Wolverhampton between 06:00 and 12:00. If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after. If you no longer wish to travel because your train's delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket. Caledonian Sleeper customer advice: Caledonian Sleeper services which departed on Wednesday 25 March will be diverted and therefore will not be able to call at Birmingham International. If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost. Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them. London Northwestern Railway customer advice: Rail replacement buses are running between Stafford, Penkridge and Wolverhampton to help you complete your journey. If you are travelling from stations between Liverpool Lime Street and Hartford towards the south, you should change at Crewe for services to Stafford where you can take a rail replacement bus to Penkridge and Wolverhampton. If you are travelling from Birmingham towards the north, you should travel between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton on West Midlands Railway services where rail replacement buses will depart every 30 minutes. You can then change at Stafford for onward travel towards Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street. Trains will run between Ashington and Northumberland Park in both directions. Trains will not be running between Newcastle and Northumberland Park in both directions. What should I do? Road transport is being sourced and once operators have been sourced. Customers are advised to use Tyne & Wear Metro services between Newcastle and Northumberland Park. Customers should change at Northumberland Park for connecting train services towards Ashington or Newcastle. Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends. Replacement transport: Road transport is not currently required. Additional information: Network Rail staff are en route to site to carry out an investigation into the cause of the fault.
