Heerlijk verblijf gehad in dit mooie rustige hotel. Het is heel mooi gelegen met uitzicht op het meer. Indrukwekkende zonsondergang. Het ontbijt en het diner kan je nemen in het eigen restaurant. De huisjes zijn van alle comfort voorzien, onder meer een TV met een aangename selectie aan programma's. Ian voorziet een aantal heel goed onderhouden mountainbikes. Ideaal om het drielandenpunt te bezoeken. We hebben genoten van ons verblijf in dit hotel waar je echt persoonlijk verwend wordt.

Hotel is situated near to the lake with rooms in chalets around the grounds. Rustic decor, room had fridge, A/C, ceiling fan, water ands tea and coffee making facility. Small but adequate shower room. Breakfast - muesli, yoghurt, fruit, home made bread. Dinner very good and plentiful. Owner and all staff lovely, courteous and very helpful. Well worth a visit

Despite a hiccup checking in the hosts could not be more accommodating or apologetic. The bungalow exceeded all expectations. The attention to detail makes your stay the most memorable and comfortable, from the beautiful furnishings to the thoughtful mosquito nets. If you are thinking of visiting Chiang Rai these bungalows are the perfect location away from the hustle bustle of city life, hire transport and easily see all the incredible sights that Northern Thailand has to offer, most of them within an hours drive. The tranquil view over the lake with its fairytale sunsets will leave you speechless. The antics of the cats and the Peacocks will make you smile. Thank you so much for helping us make some wonderful memories. We will return, but for more than 2 nights.

As previous reviewers have said, a beautifully tranquil place by a large lake. Individual hut for each bedroom with a little balcony overlooking the lake. Excellent shower with loads of hot water. An adequate breakfast but not much selection. We did not have dinner at the restaurant and there was not much sign of this taking place. But plenty of good local restaurants are near by. The swimming pool is small and all one depth of over 2 meters and you would need to be very careful with non swimmers in that pool. Recommend the Sky walk and the Hall of Opium.

This resort turned out to be our biggest surprise on our recent trip to Golden Triangle. We were wowed by the hospitality of the owners who are welcomed us with open-hearts. As it was the low peak season, we had the entire resort to ourselves. Nested next to the Chiang Saen, we could enjoy the beautiful view of the lake during our evening walk. We would have stayed longer if we didn’t have to return to Chiang Mai the next day.

Viang Yonk is outstanding. My wife and I (from Vancouver) stayed here in 2009 and returned for 3 days in January this year together with a close friend, after a Pandaw River cruise on the upper Mekong river. It remains a lovely oasis in the rapidly developing area of the Golden Triangle and is perfect if you a want a uniquely calm, comfortable, beautiful place to stay with great ambience and local character. They have very good breakfasts (and dinner on request), excellent coffee, a lovely garden with a view across the lake and even peacocks. It is incredibly reasonably priced for what you get and Ian or Vassana will organize similarly priced local transport as required. I agree with all the positive comments in the many many previous excellent reviews and for the sake of brevity will not repeat them all, nevertheless I do have to say that Ian and Vassana are two of the most charming, helpful and interesting hosts that I have met over many years of fairly extensive travels. It's a very special place and I highly recommend it.

My wife and I stayed at Viang Yonok in January and it is amazing. We wish we had more time to spend there. It is away from town which we liked. It was quiet with cats and peacocks on the property. Jeam and Ian were great and super hospitable. The had a lot of suggestions on local restaurants and were very accommodating. The breakfast were delicious and we both enjoyed lounging by the pool and watching the sunset over the lake! Having a car made it convenient to get to town for lunch and dinner.

Viang Yonok is all things a resort in a naturally beautiful location should be. You get the best morning and evening views and immediately feel at home and relaxed thanks to Ian and K. Vassana's naturally warm welcome. Their pride and pleasure in this property is evident in the care they lavish on the property and guests, and of course the animals. Very special.
