Stables Ashbourne

Me and my partner had a very lovely experience and were impressed by the high quality of the room we stayed in. It was a comfortable and relaxing stay and was as advertised in the pictures. It was also lovely to have some birthday balloons and a card when we arrived. We loved the town of Ashfield and enjoyed a walk around Dovedale in the morning. Our only point for improvement would be the lack of privacy in the hot tub as lots of the balconies can be seen from the main road. I think it could benefit from maybe some frosted glass or privacy screen etc.

A very pleasant overnight stay. Bed very comfortable and loved the hot tub. Convenient location for Ashbourne only a 5 min walk. Would recommend to stay. The pub that it was attached to served a wide choice of food and also served breakfast. It was very quiet and we were not disturbed by any other guests.

Stayed here before in a room on the 1st floor with a terrace which felt open and had good views towards the countryside. This time the room was a much better size meaning the furniture was less cluttered in the previous room - it was a disabled access room (No 2) Downside was a wet room which meant the whole floor became wet during showers. I had to ask for a squeegee after the first use so we could use the bathroom afterwards (or cover the floor with the towels). The adapted toilet height was unpleasant as it left my feet dangling when in use. I understand that the rooms absolutely need to be available but when you pay for a luxury room (over £500 for 2 nights) I wouldn’t expect it unless requested or I had been asked if it was ok. The hot tub on the terrace was tucked away into the corner under the terrace of the room above. Thought it would stop the inevitable British rain but it just meant that the rain dripped onto our heads while we were using the hot tub as it ran off the terrace above. The terrace is fairly private which is fine if you don’t mind looking at wood covered walls. At least the mass of dusty cobwebs were removed from the pipes on the 2nd day. The pub next door offered a great selection of food and drink. Just a shame they’re not open before 9 to offer breakfasts (I already knew that). The coffee had not been replenished before our arrival so we had to wait a couple of hours before someone was available at 9 in the morning to get some. A small but important thing compounded by their service hours.

Stunning room, very comfy bed, bathroom was immaculate. Check in was so easy and was ready before the time stated which was great. I would have gave it a 5 star but one negative the hot tub was disgusting. Such a shame as it was the reason for picking for the stables but we noticed it had all hair and floating bits of grime it was just generally filthy water. I did mention this at check out and we was given a free breakfast which was lovely and appreciated.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved it here. The room was amazing, spacious with plenty of storage for clothes etc. The bed was so comfy and the area is so peaceful. We have everything we need from cold drinks in the fridge to beautiful toiletries in the bathroom. The hot tub was one of the best I’ve ever been in, the temperature was perfect and it was lovely to sit on the balcony overlooking the trees. The pub is also amazing, we had dinner and breakfast and everything was beautiful and the staff are so friendly! Would definitely return!

The rooms were lovely and the staff super helpful. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t say it was worth the cost of the stay. The restaurant doesn’t open for breakfast until 9am which is fairly late when you want to do a walk and get on with the day. There’s also very few salads or healthy options on either the dinner or breakfast menus. That said, once I accepted the lack of healthy options the food was delicious (definitely get the ribs).

Wow, is the only word you can use to describe this amazing place. The room is on another level and you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. They have thought of everything and it really does make a big difference. The bar next door is also exceptionally and truly recommended every go and have a meal, the food is to die for, and the staff are the most welcoming and friendly. We will be going back.

The room was exceptional. The attention to detail in the decorating was wonderful. The bed huge and comfortable, the bath was incredible. Everything was perfect and the staff could not have been nicer. We also had dinner and breakfast next door at The Bowling Green and couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

A wonderful stay! The staff were welcoming in showing us to the room and had kindly put some petals down as it was a birthday present to my partner. We ordered room service and this came quickly and food was hot. The room was stunning and I could only wish the stay was slightly cheaper so we could’ve stayed a second night. We had the Superior Double with Super King Bed which had a Japanese hot tub on the balcony - no issues with privacy on the balcony.
