First I must say I am 66 years old with a neck injury. I do wear a neck brace.
On the first night the bathroom door was actually a barn door that slides on rails. Well, the door wasn't on its rail but leaning against the wall opposite the bed. I did not notice it, so when I attempted to close the door, it fell on my shoulder, exacerbating my neck injury. Fortunately, I was wearing my neck brace. I was also lucky to have a friend with me. She rushed over and pushed the door off of me.
In the morning I reported the incident but the desk clerk did'nt seem to care about the door mishap or my distress.
I had taken pictures of the condition of the door, but he only asked which room I was in. Later, after visiting the city, back at the room, the barndoor had been fixed. Great? No, I asked for my money back. It was outrages to be in a motel room and see the hazardous state it was in.
I did request a refund but I was ignored and given no compensation or compassion for that matter.
I would not and will not recommend the Ivy City Motel to anyone visiting D.C.
