We were a little nervous in booking here seeing the slope of the roof above some of the beds (my husband is very tall), but those fears were unfounded. The beds were comfortable, there was more than enough clearance where we never came close to hitting the ceiling. Received an email earlier in the day with the code to get into the front door and our room. Our room was upstairs with the bathroom across the hall, the house is well built enough that we didn't hear people coming/going or using the bathroom in the middle of the night. While we didn't use the kitchen beyond filling our water bottles, I was surprised by how well stocked it seemed. Including some very nice cast iron pans!

I do not suggest booking here. It is a run down, scary looking place with no services. The building and location are so shady/creepy that my girl friends and I left minutes after we arrived. I would compare this place to a motel or worse, a shack. They don't even have a front desk or someone to talk to, you could only call a random number for questions or comments. The way into the place is through a code which anybody could access. Also, guests staying here share a bathroom. So odd.
Side note: We asked for a refund. Lava Guesthouse did not agree, even though we left minutes after our arrival.
Avoid at all costs!!

Easy to find in this tiny island. You get a keycode to get into the house and your room. Very clean and probably the best beds we had in any of the guesthouses or hostels we stayed during our 2 week travel in Iceland. Kids enjoyd the Netflix on the tv before sleep. Parking was easy with the tips of the owner. Walking distance to everything that is in the town and the lava field was basically in the backyard. For brekky tip, the Skyr bar is right across the street and served excellent smoothies, only minus was it didnt open until 9am.

The room was spacious and clean with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. In a great location - walkable to grocery store, plenty of good restaurants, and attractions like the lava fields. Check-in was easy and instructions were clear. Would highly recommend!

One of the very few accommodation options on the island. The rooms and bathrooms are recently renovated and comfortable. Kitchen is very well equipped.

Our room was right off the kitchen and there were two families with small children - no soundproofing. Otherwise, wonderful stay

Overall nice place. Would stay there again I just wish they had a clothes dryer because Iceland can get wet.

We stayed for two nights. Perfect location. 5 min walk from the ferry. Right in the center of the town and beside an amazing restaurant Gott and across from ice cream shop, yogurt bar and a minute from a microbrewery bar. We walked the cliff walk to see the puffins but there are plenty of tours too.
The guesthouse was also perfect. We traveled with two small children and we were worried that a shared bathroom would be inconvenient but that was not at all the case. There were two immaculately clean, well stocked bathrooms on the floor and having access to a kitchen and fridge was another great advantage when traveling with children. The Bonus supermarket was a minute walk from the guest house and we stocked up on supplies for breakfast and sandwiches for hiking. Overall we loved it and highly recommend. We would love to stay there again.

Great hostel, close to everything, a friend and I came here for just 1 night, room was a bit small, but hey I am not here for sleeping. Clean, bathrooms are pristine, so worth the 5 star. Easy walk to eldfell, take some hiking shoes, also this is self check in hostel, but owners were here to greet us. Top notch
