The Punchbowl Inn

It is a while since I have been here but when I went I thoroughly enjoyed this pub. It has a good atmosphere and the food was good also. All in all a good pub. I went with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit the staff were friendly and the atmosphere good. It is definitely a place I would recommend and go back to. Anne walker

Did not serve food- room was very basic paper thin walls you can hear people talking in the room next to you and the tv. Shower was a waste of time - would not stay here again

Ideal for a nights stopover en route to North Yorkshire, a pleasant young man in charge seemed to be doing so much on his own ,there was problem with heating which would not go off ,but thoughtfully room was issued with very efficient fan ,reasonably priced ,breakfast ok , if in area would stay again ,

Bloody appalling. No TV inthe room. WIFI in the room does not work. Very noisy guests slamming doors and kids running around screaming until the early hours. Awful beer. Tasteless food. Horrible uncomfortable bed. Then to cap it all, waited 40 mins for someone to take my order for breakfast. Nobody showed up, so I left. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I SUSPECT THEIR GOOD REVIEWS ARE FALSE.

This is a beautiful Property,and the manager is working hard to update and clean the hotel as funds allow, the staff are very helpful and friendly. would use again without hesitation. Harry.

Last minute trip with the grandkids. Lovely pub/restuarant, food delicious - rooms basic and in need of maintenance and mattresses definately need upgrading!. The management and staff were lovely. This place has the makings of being a top class establishment - just needs some TLC from the owners.

Great place good food and a good nights sleep

I normally only write positive reviews, but there are exceptions. On the face of it I thought the Punch Bowl might be half decent, the car park was pretty full on arrival, but that is the end of the good signs. Inside the place looked abandoned, it took several minutes before any staff surfaced. And then they didn’t seem to understand my booking, which was pre-paid. Down to the comments : The rooms looked like it had not been updated since the 70’s, the bed was worn, and every spring could be felt. Worst night sleep in years. Breakfast was supposed to be served from 07:30, at 07:30 I tried to leave my room only to find I was locked in the building and could only leave into the outside space of the building. Finally released at about 08:00, I wandered into the breakfast room (bar) to find it as desolate as the previous evening. No sign of staff. When someone turned up, they were rather unfriendly and asked what I wanted for breakfast, quickly following it with a suggestion of eggs.!!! Nothing else offered. When I went to check out and leave some comments, guess what? Yup, no one about. This place has nothing appealing about it.
