A Wonderful Stay at the Sunset Serenity Resort St. Martin’s Island Booking the hotel was effortless. I contacted them via WhatsApp, and out of all the hotels I spoke with during my trip around Bangladesh, their communication was by far the best—professional, prompt, and clear. A small deposit was required to secure the booking, which was straightforward. The hotel is situated in the middle of St. Martin’s Island, away from the hustle and bustle, offering a peaceful retreat. The Hotel isn't called the Sunset for no reason, the Sunset was breathtaking. We were initially supposed to be picked up by boat from the pier, and the hotel staff was waiting for us with their contact number provided in advance. However, due to low tide, we had to travel by road instead. The journey was uncomfortable, and navigating through the crowds was difficult. Thankfully, on our return, we were able to take the boat, which was a much better experience as it helped us bypass the long queues and board the ferry first. The food was simple yet delicious, with enough variety to satisfy different tastes. The grilled fish served for both lunch and dinner was outstanding. I also loved the halwa at breakfast—it was the best I’ve ever had! You could see the chef putting real effort into preparing each meal in the open kitchen. We were also provided with cold drinks, water, and even tea with pakoras in the afternoon, which was a lovely touch. The rooms were comfortable and clean, just a stone’s throw from the water. If you want to swim during low tide, there is a long, sandy stretch just a five-minute walk to the left—almost like having your own private beach, as hardly anyone was around. The room had a ceiling fan but no air conditioning, which wasn’t an issue as we visited in January when the weather was mild. The hotel is equipped with solar panels and a backup generator, and we only experienced a brief power outage during our stay. Hot water was available upon request, with just a short five-minute wait. The staff were amazing—so friendly and hospitable. They went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay and truly treated us like family. Overall, I had an incredible experience. The hotel is slightly expensive, but it is definitely worth it. As a special highlight, we were treated to a lovely boat ride and had the chance to visit the southernmost point of Bangladesh, which was a fantastic experience. I did ask if they had a carrom board to play in the evening, but unfortunately, it was damaged. I would highly recommend staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
