The staff at Palais Zahia are warm and welcoming and the hotel itself is a gem of Moroccan artistry. It’s centrally located in the medina in a busy square, great as a launching point for exploring on foot.
The third floor terrace offers lovely views of the harbor. Breakfast, which is included, offers pastries, breads, fruit, confitures, and some fresh vegetables and olives.
We had dinner in the hotel one evening; menu is Moroccan. We didn’t care for our fish dishes so much, but we were also getting a little tired of Moroccan fare. Service is excellent all around. The Palais does not serve alcohol. Our TV didn’t work and they couldn’t figure out how to fix it, but we didn’t need it anyway. The property can be a little noisy as Tangier stays up late and the morning call to prayer can be rousing. Be sure to pull your soundproof window closed at night😉 It was a special place to stay! Public Parking is down the hill on Blvd Mohammed V. Call hotel ahead to arrange help getting your luggage up the hill. Parking is not included but also not expensive.
