Stayed one night, reserved and paid 3rd party, desk clerk asked for credit card, explained that I had already paid 3rd party, returned card, later check credit acct, they had charged an additional$25, after questioning, Inn canceled charge..
Beware
Additionally, attempted to re book next day, the desk clerk offered me $148+ rate, vs my previous $67..
Inn was empty, just a few vehicles.
Although wouldn't offer me a less expensive rate.
Wonder how they pay there bills??

This was the best spent $100, and I'd stay here any day over a chain hotel or motel. The Publick House has so much charm and character, the staff are super friendly, and the room was comfortable and cozy. It is easy to imagine what staying at an inn in the 1700s could feel like when you walk into the lobby. There's a fire going in the tavern downstairs, lots of inviting couches and chairs, and a bakery downstairs too with coffee and muffins. If you're going through the Sturbridge area and need a place to stay, I can't recommend this place more.

A nice historic hotel complex — BUT they really need a nicer person at the check-in desk. The woman who was there Saturday/Sunday was very terse and seemed very overwhelmed by the idea of offering kindness and service to paying guests.

Stayed in the Motor Lodge. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. No mini fridge or coffee maker in the room; had to go down to the main Historic Inn for complementary coffee and pastries offered in the morning. Bathroom is small and had to run the water prior to taking a shower due to what appeared to be rust/sand in the water. Inside the the Historic Inn /is Ebenezer's Pub where we enjoyed a great meal. The bar is comfortable and the barteknder was friendly serving up good drinks. The location is just out of town and quiet yet close to everything we plannned for our get-a-way was perfect.

My family & I have been going to the Publick House annually for New Year's Eve lunch since 2004. The past four years we have stayed at the property and always have a great stay. Rooms are clean and fairly quiet. The main building has tons of charm and the two newer buildings have a modern yet homey feel. The motor lodge is also great.

This is a beautiful property and the service overall is great.
I liked the decorations and old style. We needed to get out our building at 20 degrees in the morning just to get the complementary pastries and coffee only offered at the bakery shop in the main building. I'd suggest to offer the pastries and coffee at the lobby of each building.

This property is gorgeous. It is a busy wedding venue, and boyyyy do you KNOW IT! The staff seems miserable and exhausted. You feel like an imposition when you ask anything or need anything. There are two exceptions that we noticed, the gals in the bake shop are fantastic and a manager named Demarco is AMAZING. He will go the extra mile, he is happy, energetic, remembers your name; he is the best!
I think management needs more employees to relieve some on shifts. It was really noticeable and we make three trips there per year!

We stayed in the Historic Inn Rm 8. Old small room. Very nostalgic but that’s what you get. Old Inn. Kitchen near room so we heard clanging dishes until midnight. Party room across the hall so another loud event. It’s an Old Inn so feels like you’re in an old sinking house. Shower pressure goes up and down same with hot water. Would not stay in the historic part again (1-8). Stay in the newer building.

The room was very dated/run down. The adjustable shower head was slimy. Plug in air fresheners were used in the attempt to cover odor. Trash was discarded off the balcony. A very long list. This place was a dump!
