Arrived and greeted by Paula who was very welcoming and friendly. Room allocated was tidy on first impressions however as I unpacked I found a used earbud on the desk, paint chippings on the bathroom floor and dried foam coming out the door cracks. Went down to reception where Paula took full details and apologised before arranging another room - excellent professional service from Paula - a credit to the hotel.
Went into the bar to order food - it did seem there were supply issues as everything I wanted was out of stock! No matter as found the steak to be very agreeable instead.
The atmosphere was ok and bar area clean, would appreciate if the bar staff could stop their private conversation rather than me waiting at the bar to pay so they could finish their gossip.
Got into bed in the new room to discover chewing gum stuck to the duvet, turned it around and just went to sleep as couldn’t be bothered to complain anymore. Did mention to chap on desk next morning who took note of it and got the duvet changed - an apology would have been nice.
Breakfast very nice and good selection.
