Otters' Haunt Eco Retreat

We loved our stay in Cormorant Cabin. Very clean facilities and basic necessities are provided. We found the cabin stay peaceful, secluded and private. We highly recommend it to all nature lovers. The owners are lovely and allow you your space.

What a pleasant surprise when we arrived. This rustic unit feels totally private because of the surrounding nature. Sitting on the deck relaxing or having a braai by the boma just bring calmness to your holiday. The pool is clean and well kept. The shower is almost an "outside" shower, so having a shower and still see the stars and moon peeping through the door opening on top is a must. You can take a stroll down to the river and have a sundowner on the grass, while meeting the two super friendly border collies. Will definitely return

We had a quick family breakaway between Christmas and New Years and stayed in the River House which was fantastic as it truly is right on the river. It is spacious and well equipped. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and hands-on with every thing. The river was in flood so we had quite a view from the patio. The fact that Otters Haunt is off the grid and switched off around 9:30pm did not bother at all as we played board games and spent family time by candle and torchlight. They offer river rafting and there are several other activities in the close vicinity.

Basic and needs revamp A bigger newer bed and bathroom upgrade is needed - location is good won't take much to improve the standards -very expensive for this level of accomadation and standard . Friendly owners 😎😎

Had a great time, great place beautiful venue, loved the rive bonfire pit, only thing missing is a shower, Great hikes and good for the family - Comes highly recommended. loved it thanks to Damien and team

We enjoyed our weekend away tremendously. We did not book before the time for water rafting. Damian and his dad went the extra mile to arrange for us. The view from the house was amazing. You find your soul again.

We had a great time at Otto's haunt for a long weekend! Graeme and Karen are such welcoming and kind hosts and so passionate about the area. My daughters loved the rafting and discovering of the crater. Accommodation is lovely and comfortable. Great place for a family fun time.

Otters Haunt review The weekend started well, the host is friendly and did not mind that we arrived a few minutes prior to check-in. The house is well situated, and the private pool is an added bonus. The only issue is that we were with 3 month old baby, and the lights went off at 22h15 each night and came back on just a few minutes before 7am. This is was not mentioned on the booking information or on any other communication. Had we known this we would have arranged come with rechargeable lights or battery powered lights, as the baby wakes up during the night, and having to feed and change baby in the dark was very inconvenient, as the option of candles was not very feasible, especially with kids and a baby. And also keep not keep the baby's bottles warm overnight, as there was no electricity throughout the night. Another issue was that there was a lot of spiderwebs (which implies that the house and patio was not well cleaned prior to our arrival) and since doors and windows were left open before we arrived, we were greeted by 2 frogs and a scorpion in the rooms

Otters Haunt is a wonderful place, close stroll to the river, trees and bush, just what I needed and the bath is also what we needed, first time in years we could have a bath together. And they so neat to town what a quick dinner was easy accessible and done
