Side Su Hotel - Adult Only (+16)

We arrived at the hotel about 10:30 pm, looking forward to sleeping in the junior suite we had booked, with easy access for my mobility scooter, only to be told that the room reserved for uswas down 2 flights of stairs in a separate. When we explained that walking down that many step was not an option, the staff said they would carry me! I must add I am 80 years old and weigh roughly 12 stones/ish. The thought of being carried down terrified me, and if I had agreed I would have been trapped, not being able to get out of the building! We were eventually given a room for the night, with a double bed and bed chair for the third member of our party. The receptionist dealing with us didnt seem to care about our distress and indignation, he gave the impression that we were fussing about nothing. AND, while all this was taking place the manager was in his off the whole time, making no attempt to help sort the situation. The next morning we were able to show both the manager and the receptionist the original booking, and the email requesting our needs, which we were told they hadn't received. Also, standards in the hotel are not good : The food is poor (we are happy to eat Turkish food when cooked well), so we ate out for most of our meals, despite being all inclusive. Little care and attention was given to the pool areas, none of the poolside showers were working and obviously hadn't for some time judging by the amount of foliage growing over them. The floor space around the pools were not swept as evidenced by the cigarette ends and general detritus near the pools. The big positives were all the waiters in all areas were cheerful, and always helpful. And the cleaning ladies. Always cheerful , they cleaned our rooms with a smile. And the spa, all the staff happy and helpful. Umut, Suri, Sri and Deva, thank you all. Great massages at a great price.

We have just returned from a lovely week at the Side Su hotel. Please ignore any negative feedback as our experience is nothing but positive. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left we felt looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh sheets and towels on a regular basis. The food, what can I say…. The choice at every meal is superb. I’m gluten intolerant and had absolutely no issues. I was able to eat from the main buffet ever day and there was gluten free bread available you just had to ask. Plenty of sun beds and parasols at the choice of 3 pools, 3 beach bars. I indulged in a Hamman body scrub and full body massage at the hotel spa which was lovely. I also used the on-site beauticians again brilliant. All the staff work so hard and are really friendly even after a long day. This hotel is superb value for money, and I would definitely return. If I’m going to nit pick the only negative thing I would say is about the hard sell on cocktails and iced coffees. But in these hard times for the hotel industry I totally get it.

Can not fault this hotel. Very smooth check in , the room was spotless and has been all of the holiday. Daily cleaning, towel change, bed linen. Wide variety of food on offer . All Restraunt staff very polite and helpful. Bar staff brilliant. Overview Having read some glowing reviews we were expecting so much more from this hotel, yes it is a reasonable price for AI, but a let down in so so many areas…… Good points - Rooms are spacious and comfy beds, we were in the main block on 2nd floor - Restaurant staff work amazingly hard in, Mustapha especially was great, as was the female restaurant co-ordinator whose name I unfortunately cannot remember, began with a ‘P’ it is also lovely to sit on the roof – great view - Food – overall very good, enough choice to always find something you like, the salads and meze dishes particularly good. Though do agree with one reviewer when they state that the guy on breakfast doesn’t know how to fry an egg! and also the toaster does need replacing, fiddly and awkward to use, and frequently not working. Bad Points - Plastic, plastic everywhere! doesn’t appear to be any consideration to try and reduce plastic use, nearly everything is single use plastic. Water at pool areas mainly available in small, and I mean small, square flimsy plastic containers with rip off tops. The bottom Wall restaurant/evening venue area, which puts a few items out for lunch for those who don’t want to use the rooftop restaurant, only has plastic knives and forks, also will only serve drinks in flimsy small single use plastic cups, even if sitting at the table?? The staff at the pool bar seem to want to put a plastic straw in every drink (apart from beer) – is this necessary - Not enough staff Maids – The poor maids are still working flat out past 5.30pm, and we do appreciate how hard they work; however, I would expect to be able to go back to my room from 4.30pm and be able to have a shower and the room be completed by this time – not the maid’s fault but management for not having more staff. In the first 5 days we had one day when room was done but no towels left, then 1 day when room not made up at all (this was gone 6pm and we just wanted to shower, change and then eat), and another when we went back at 5pm and room still not done -we spoke to the overall manager who was rude and dismissive. Pool bar – Unacceptable that the guy serving drinks at the Pool bar has to go and collect supplies throughout the day and leave the bar unmanned, no one delivers anything and no one stands in for him. Not enough staff! - Drink Quality The soft drinks, especially from the pool bar are truly awful, both the Coke and Fanta were watered down and totally flat, couldn’t drink them – used to go across the main road to the supermarket to buy soft drinks, cheap and at least enjoyable to drink. Beach Area – ‘Rack ‘em, pack ‘em and stack ‘em’ Allocated beach area for multiple hotels, roped off with a changing hut, the Side Su’s area seemed to be the only one without a working shower, loungers were side by side, hardly any distance between them, it was like being in a cattle pen, also not much effort made to clean the area, littered with leftover plastic from day before, t bags, tissues, fa
