Woodville Palace by Signum

I hosted my dream wedding here. We booked the whole hotel for 2 nights. I had guests coming in from all over the world. We had an amazing time. The hotel staff is VERY cordial, the hospitality was exceptional. Highly recommend.

This was our first stay at the Woodville Palace Hotel. First the plus points. It is a beautiful heritage property in a great location. The place is surrounded by history, within and without. The property is surrounded by tall pine trees. There is a very delightful little garden at the bottom of a lovely staircase. The entire staff, from the front desk, housekeeping and restaurant were exceptional. Whenever we had any issues they were available and took care of the issue. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Their mutton curry and jeera aaloo is a must try. Our room in the new wing was spotless and had a great view. Now for the major minus point. The property outside needs a lot of TLC. The beautiful garden at the bottom of the stone staircase is very unkempt. There are piles of stuff covered with blue tarps. The lovely cottage in the garden is used as a store room. Even on the staircase going down to the garden and the pathway exiting the hotel there are piles of decoration stuff covered with yellow tarps. They are probably remnants of equipment used for decoration at a wedding or event. I would urge Great Empire Hospitality Pvt. Ltd to take care of these minor details. You have an amazing property that has immense potential. Please don’t let that go to waste.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour. we were initially offered a room in the "cottage" annex, which was totally unacceptable. The room had blacked out windows, was near to the laundry and the drivers parking area, and was very dingy and shabby. We refused to accept this room and although the reception staff were most unprofessional and unhelpful, eventually we were offered a room in the main building at an extra cost of 1500 rupees per night . The new room was fine but there were noise issues on the first night. A fire pit was lit directly below our room presumably for a family party, and the noise went on until the early hours. Noise was exacerbated by the staff clearing up (also in the early hours). Breakfast was adequate and the location was excellent for walking to the mall

Plus - Hotel with lots of character and heritage and staff who are the most courteous people you will meet. Stayed in a family room to the back of the main building where we had a dining room and was able to add an extra single bed. Kettle for hot drinks provided. Warm shower. Heater for the evening kept the room warm and cosy. Lovely decorated room with metal framed four posted bed. Great buffet breakfast. Close to the main high street in Shimla. Interesting photos of the royal family who used the property as a summer house. Definitely worth a return!

Except location nothing to recommend. From poor check in experience to check out after two nights. Very noisy due to ongoing marriage functions on both days. Rooms have view of parking and rooms 201-204 open in parking itself. Average food as well as indifferent service sums it up.

I booked in for 2 nights at the Woodville Palace as its sense of faded charm looked appealing, though in reality it is more faded than charming! The best thing I can say about it is that the service staff in the hotel were lovely. The problem came at checkout. I asked for an invoice at the desk but was told that I would have to look at my account on their portal as they do not print invoices. In fact, the portal information was inocorrect as it showed only the 2 nights' accommodation and not meals/drinks - and 2 weeks after my stay it has still not been updated. I presented my credit card and after a few moments, the woman at the desk tore off the piece of paper that had been produced by the machine, screwed it up and threw it aside, telling me the payment had not gone through. Concerned that my card was not working, I presented it again and was relieved when the payment went through. When I got home, I checked my credit card debits on-line, and realised that in fact the payment had actually gone through twice. Assuming this to be a genuine error by the hotel, I emailed them with a screenshot of my account, and the next day received an email stating 'I will look into this and get back to you.' A few days elapsed and I heard nothing more - and in spite of further emails to Woodville Palace I have never received any further response. I slowly realised that the duplicate payment was not an error and was taken with full intent by the hotel. Their lack of communication and no attempt to make amends make the situation clear. I have subsequently read other Tripadvisor reviews which make it apparent that I am not the first to have been subject to the same shameful behaviour. The good news is that I raised a dispute with Mastercard and they have refunded my overpayment and are dealing with Woodville Palace. I also contacted *********** who, with the evidence I provided, have taken action by removing Woodville Palace from their booking system. This is a laudable response by them! I have also sent a report to the Himachal PradeshTourism Development Corporation, who regulate hotels. With such contempt shown towards guests, this hotel does not deserve the custom of visitors who, like me, are left with memories of a disappointing stay, the horrible realisation of being deliberately defrauded with no acknowledgement from the hotel, and then having to sort out the repercussions. My advice: AVOID!

Firstly, the hotel is fantastic value and is in a great part of Shimla. I stayed in the older part of the hotel. The room was large and had a lot of character. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, they were able to arrange a tour of Shimla for me which included a visit to the school my mother attended. Shimla is a fantastic place to visit and for me one of remembrance. I highly recommend this hotel.

Biggest liars and cheaters you would ever come across. They just misuse your credit card and swipe it multiple times and won't give you your money back. I'm afraid the guests checking in will end up losing their valuables too, because they're more kind of cheaters and frauds rather than a hospitality staff.

Enjoyed our stay at the Woodville Palace Heritage Hotel, Restaurant Staff weather its dinner or morning buffet breakfast.. I would like to Congratulate Balakram Dharmender,Vidya,Vipin,Rajender,Kusum,SanSar,Kamlesh,Rohit,Sukharam,Sarita,Nishant &Anupam....every one was so attentive#helpfull#pleasant#Courteous n anticipated all our needs by providing fantastic service with warmth & Genuine Smile.. Chef's are the soul of the hotel Management #Kitchen Excecutive Chef Praveen Thakur, Chef Bharti, Chef Kailash Das, Chef Dasla.... I would like to Congratulate n thank each chef for meeting our expectations# customizing & serving us delicious 😋 n tasty food as per our liking... House keeping team always Round the clock to help with necessities.. The lady at the desk neha Sharma was Courteous....
