We have just returned from our family vacation, and I can honestly say that Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Where do I even begin? From the warm welcome we received from our concierge, Adonai, to the wonderful dining experiences and the delicious ice cream at Copo y Cono, every moment was special. However, the most wonderful part of our stay was getting to know Adonai. Our children absolutely adored him! He went above and beyond to make them feel special, creating a personalized photo frame for them, bringing them stuffed animals, and even spending time playing with them when we were not around. I believe this is exactly what families look for when choosing a resort: a place where they can truly disconnect from everyday life, relax, and enjoy their vacation knowing that everyone is being taken care of. It is not just about keeping the children happy; it is about allowing parents to relax and enjoy themselves, too, knowing their entire family is in good hands. The only aspect we were not particularly fond of was the noise from the ongoing construction. However, we understand that improvements take time, and it is clear that the team is working hard to enhance the guest experience. They are definitely heading in the right direction. I would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire Tico Tica team, Ángel for his wonderful coffees at Buena Nota, and the bell staff, who were always ready to help us get wherever we needed to go.

My wife and I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique for a week to celebrate her birthday. We were looking forward to a luxurious off-season escape and got exactly what we were looking for. The resort and room were spacious and quiet, providing the perfect setting whether we were walking the beach, lounging by the pool, or spending time in our room. Prior to arriving, I worked via email with the concierge team to schedule airport transfers, a coffee experience, dinner reservations, and a day trip to Monteverde Cloud Forest. They worked efficiently to coordinate everything, and there wasn't a single issue throughout the entire trip. After easily connecting with our transfer at the airport, our driver kindly allowed us to make a pit stop at a local market to grab some snacks for the room. We arrived at the resort about two hours prior to standard check-in time, but they let us check in early and arranged a fantastic golf cart tour with Alan. He answered all of our questions and dropped us off at the poolside restaurant, Vida, to enjoy lunch while our room was being finalized. The burgers were great, and our room was ready before we even finished our meal. Once we finished, we were whisked up to our room by golf cart. I can’t describe how amazing the room was. We booked an Ocean View King Room and were placed in Building 5. As soon as we walked in, we were drawn straight to the beautiful view from the balcony. While Building 5 might not hold the most lavish suite on the property, it would be hard to beat that view. The room itself was extremely high-end, featuring rainfall showers, a soaking tub on the balcony, and an exceptionally comfortable bed. My only minor note is that the entire fridge was occupied by minibar beverages, leaving no room for the leftovers we brought back after dinner each night. Throughout our stay, our personal concierge, Freddie, checked in via text every day to ensure everything was going smoothly. One evening, when we had questions about our tour for the next morning, he even assisted us after his shift had ended. We truly appreciated his kindness and dedication to making our trip special. For an on-property activity, we booked the 'Buena Nota – Art of Brewing' experience, and it was well worth it. Leonardo was our barista; from the start, his passion for coffee and the history of Costa Rican brews shone through. He walked us through the history of coffee, the nuances between varieties, and the differences between specialty and commercial coffee, complete with bean samples and various brewing apparatuses. To top it off, we each got to use a unique brewing method to craft our own perfect cup. For my wife’s birthday dinner, we ate at Tico Tica. The food was delicious and the service was top-tier. Our server, Raul, elevated the night with great recommendations and surprised my wife with a delicious birthday cake. I can’t say enough great things about my experience at the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique, and specifically the incredible level of service I received from my butler, Freddie Dias. Freddie quite literally saved my trip. I was traveling to Costa Rica to meet with clients when my original flight was canceled at the last minute, forcing me to completely reroute and fly into San José instead. I suddenly found myself landing around midnight at an airport nearly four hours away from the resort, with an important client meeting ahead of me and very few options. Freddie immediately stepped in and took ownership of the situation. He arranged a luxury vehicle and private driver to pick me up in San José in the middle of the night and get me safely to the resort as quickly as possible. But what impressed me most was that his service didn’t stop once the car was booked. Freddie stayed up throughout the night, checking in with me every step of the way to make sure I had landed, connected with my driver, was comfortable and was making progress toward the hotel. I ultimately arrived around 3:30 AM, and he was still making sure I was taken care of. That level of service is rare, even at the very best luxury hotels in the world. The Waldorf Astoria itself is spectacular, but it’s people like Freddie who turn a beautiful property into a truly memorable experience. He went far beyond what I ever could have expected and genuinely saved what could have been a disastrous business trip. I highly recommend the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica, and if you have the opportunity to have Freddie Dias looking after you during your stay, you are in exceptional hands. Freddie, thank you again. My wife and I spent our 35th wedding anniversary here. As for the room and cleanliness was ok. Anniversary night we ate at the signature restaurant fico which afterwards my wife became ill and could not eat for 2 days afterwards. Overall the food was bad as we have stayed at many Waldorfs and Hilton hotels and it was by far the worst. Once you get past the food you have many pools onsite, they do not designate any pools to kids so you have kids running wild all over the area jumping splashing kicking while trying to relax is impossible. The service was the next bad item at the hotel while having to search for waiters as they are walking around And finally as we couldn’t wait to leave they double charged us for a fishing trip over 1k on our bill as well as over charging for mini bar items that we didn’t use and refused to refund My wife and I travel a lot Both Hilton diamond reserve members and this was the worst experience we have ever had That being said I would never recommend this hotel to anyone

We had a great stay at Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica. The hotel is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the overall atmosphere makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the area. We chose this hotel based on a recommendation from Chris at NextTrip, and it was definitely the right choice. He also helped us organize our airport transfers and outdoor tours, which made everything very easy and smooth during our stay. We did the rainforest tour,and La Leona Waterfall the hike was incredible, and being surrounded by nature made it a unique experience, and it was a lot of fun.
