PortoBay Serra Golf

Tasty breakfast. Excellent staff. Perfect room equipment.

Mein Mann und ich waren im November für ein paar Tage im Serra Golf. Wir sind regelmäßig Gäste der Hotels der Porto Bay Gruppe, waren aber erstmalig im Serra Golf. Gebucht hatten wir ein Standardzimmer mit HP. Wir bekamen eines der zwei Zimmer, dass eine Außenwand hat und am Ende des Gangs lag. Schon beim Hereinkommen war der sehr offensichtlich wahrnehmbare Geruch feuchter und schimmeliger Luft wahrzunehmen. Es roch einfach modrig. Schnell entdeckten wir mehrere Stellen mit Schimmel im Zimmer: an einer Fensterseite und großflächig im Inneren des Kleiderschranks. Wir sprachen darauf die Rezeption an, die sich das Problem anschaute. Sofort wurde eine Reinigungskraft geschickt, die versuchte die Stellen zu beseitigen. Nach dem Afternoon Tea sind wir erneut in das Zimmer, das nun voll nach Chlor stank. Dennoch war auch immer noch Schimmel wahrnehmbar. Eine erneute Suche zeigte, dass auch an anderen Stellen (auf Höhe Tresor) lauter Schimmel zu finden war. Die Rezeption wollte uns erst nicht glauben was sehr unangenehm für uns war. Niemals hätten wir darin eine Nacht gesund überstanden. Man hat uns danach großzügiger Weise einen Zimmerwechsel in ein Superiorzimmer angeboten, was wir auch annahmen. Abgesehen von dem Lärm des Restaurants (Altbau, liegt direkt darunter, und dem Essensabzug auf dem Balkon, der immer für einen Hauch von Essen in der Luft sorgte, waren wir damit sehr zufrieden. Trotz dieses Upgrades wirkte die gesamte Situation sehr unangenehm für uns. Interessant war, dass man gar nicht über den Schimmel verwundert war. Probleme mit Feuchtigkeit seien bekannt, vor allem aufgrund der Außenwände bei zugleich wenig Sonneneinstrahlung. Das klingt wie in einem schlechten Film. Man dreht den Gästen das Zimmer erstmal an und wartet dann ab, ob es Beschwerden gibt. Interessanterweise wurde das Zimmer einen Tag später sofort wieder belegt, sogar mit Aufbettung. Essen sehr gut, Service in Restaurant auch. Etwas besser hätte die Reinigung des Zimmer sein können. Pool und Sauna sehr schön. Leider aufgrund dieser Erfahrung nur 3 Sterne.

I wanted to stay in a romantic setting and PortoBay Serra Golf was the perfect choice , a lovely quite room with a very comfy bed and amazing pillows , the on suite shower was perfect , I can't thank the hotel staff enough for their kindness , nothing was to much trouble to make sure my partners birthday was fabulous , We ate several times in the hotels elegant restaurant , the food was excellent as was the service , And yes I would stay again it was a delight .

Fantastic location to play golf in Santo Serra Golf combined with halfboard accommodation in Porto Serra Bay Hotel. Friendly people, warm weather and wonderful trekking 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. We will surely comeback.

Great friendly staff, very helpful and pleasant. Excellent meals, comfortable beds, very clean and tastefully decorated rooms. Quiet and ambient atmosphere, nothing to complain about at all. Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break. Beautiful golf course adjacent, but a car is a must for exploring

Absolutely recommended, even if you don't play golf...All facilities were just fine; diner and breakfast super! Sauna , pool and room facilities perfect! We are used to sleep with windows wide open instead of using airco. A large mosquito screen made it possible...

Charming and modern at the same time. Had a kind of old beach style B&B wibe. The indoor heated pool has direct access to a nice tropical garden with sun beds. The hotel is a bit far from other restaurants so I would recommend choosing half board. The food at the restaurant is of good quality.

The staff were very kind and welcoming. And the food was excellent so we ate in the hotel almost every night. We loved this hotel and would recommend it. We also made good use of the local bus service.

From start to finish our holiday was brilliant. Being a small hotel I feel the staff were able to be very attentive. We were met by very welcoming reception staff who were always happy to help with any requests we had. Our room was clean, airy and a good size and the huge bed so comfortable. With comfy seats in the lounge and reception area it had a cosy feel. We opted for half board. The food was exceptional. There was plenty of choice for the help yourself breakfast and for the evening meal we were waited at table with an a la carte menu. We didn't want to be down in Funchal with all the hustle and bustle so the hotel was in an ideal location for us. We took the bus into Funchal on a few days, which took about 1 hour for a price of 2.75 euros each (1 way). It has an indoor swimming pool area with loungers and plenty of outdoor seating. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want peace and quiet. We are definitely going to return to the hotel in Spring next year. All the staff were lovely with special thanks to Lena Franca who made our stay very memorable.
