Bambú Ecocabañas

Very comfortable and pretty. I loved staying there. I’ve just left and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

This is the place we keep coming back to (4 times and counting!). It's true paradise on earth! The guys who run the place, Memo and Miguel, are amazing hosts - very chill and very accommodating. The cabins are amazing, and the soft lounge chairs facing the sea are my favorite spot in the world to enjoy a good book and a drink. We travel with kids and they also absolutely love the place. A 5 minute walk on the beach from Ecocabañas Bambú you can take surf lessons and go for fishing trips where dolphins, sea turtles and also whales (Nov-Mar) are abundant. And a 15 minute car ride away you can take a boat on a lagoon with crocodiles and also release baby turtles (Ventanilla). There's tons to do around here. You should avoid swimming right in front of the cabins due to strong undercurrents, but walk 5 minutes to the neighboring beach and you're fine. Ask the locals for the conditions though, as they might vary! Just at the back of the place there's a little street with tons of little shops and restaurants. Our kids walk alone to an ice cream place close by, and it all feels very safe. We also love to eat around the big table at the common kitchen, and it feels very homey. All in all, STRONGLY recommended!!!

Relaxing Cabanas Helpful owner, beautiful views, very relaxed

We were lucky enough to be able to stay here over the busy Christmas holiday and loved it! It’s a long & amazing drive from Oaxaca city but we had the warmest & friendliest welcome by Memo who runs the beach houses. The cabana's are set facing the beach and the ocean; a gorgeous setting. Rooms are clean and spacious and each has a personal outside balcony or terrace to relax and just take it all in. Bambu has been thoughtfully designed and there are so many little touches that make it unique. Bambu does not offer a bar or breakfast service but there is a spacious shared kitchen with space in the fridges & lockers if you want. However, San Agustinillo has lots of small cafes & restaurants for those not interested in cooking! Outside areas are kept swept & clean and everyone worked to make this s wonderful stay. I have to make a special mention of Memo. His personal attention to his guests make this an outstanding place to stay. One of our party was unfortunately unwell and he looked after us so well. We are incredibly thankful to him for his help. San Agustinillo is a lovely beach area. The swimming was fabulous and there are plenty of chances to surf and snorkel. We also took a boat ride and we’re thrilled to catch whales, dolphins, manta rays, .. quite a sea safari! Thank you Bambu.

Great spot!

San Agustinillo has a great sandy beach, and Bambu Ecocabanas is very well situated on the beach (like many other properties), The facilities are very basic; no hot water, intermittent WiFi, no bar or food service unless you do it yourself. That can be fine as simple can be good, but the problem is that you are being charged as much, if not more, than other properties on the beach that provide much better accommodation and service. Building work is taking place at the property, so it currently looks like a building site and there was constant drilling and hammering from the seven building workers. There was no apology from management for this noise, and no discount offered.

Die Unterkunft punktet vor allem durch ihre hervorragende Lage: nur wenige Schritte vom Strand entfernt, mit teilweise direktem Meerblick und einer sehr angenehmen, sicheren Umgebung. Restaurants, kleine Supermärkte und der Strand sind bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Straßenleben ist lebendig, aber nicht unangenehm, und insgesamt wirkt der Ort sauber und freundlich. Die Zimmer sind bewusst offen gestaltet, was für viel Luft und Meeresrauschen sorgt, aber auch Geräusche von der Straße oder der Außenbeleuchtung durchlässt. Mit den Ventilatoren werden die meisten Außengeräusche jedoch gut überdeckt. Die Ausstattung ist funktional, aber sehr einfach: kein TV, keine Minibar, kein Tisch oder Sitzgelegenheit im Zimmer. WLAN funktioniert gut, die Klimaanlage ist nur gegen Aufpreis verfügbar, was angesichts der hohen Zimmerpreise nicht ideal ist. Der Safe bietet nur begrenzten Schutz. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist die Gemeinschaftsküche mit zwei großen Kühlschränken sowie die schönen Außenbereiche mit Hängematten, Sitzplätzen und Meerblick. Fußduschen und Außendusche sind praktisch und gut durchdacht. Die Atmosphäre ist familiär, und man kommt leicht mit anderen Gästen ins Gespräch. Das Personal ist freundlich, aber eher zurückhaltend. Proaktive Informationen zu Aktivitäten oder Empfehlungen wären wünschenswert, da das Potenzial einer kleinen, persönlichen Unterkunft hier nicht ganz ausgeschöpft wird.
