The Marina Hotel is a little oasis out here in San Francisco. Nestled inside a quiet courtyard amongst a very busy district. It’s like stepping back in time. Back to the 1930’s. I almost expect to see Clark Gable strolling around this Hotel. My room is very quaint and comfortable with a very spacious bedroom and kitchen and other nice amenities too. I wish I was staying more than just the one night. But I do know that the next time I come to visit the Bay Area, this is the hotel I’m staying at!!!

This was such a nice stay. Had excellent communication with the staff before and after my stay. They were more than friendly and helpful. There’s good service but then there’s just good characters/people, and they were both. Apartment-like feel staying in the queen kitchen suite, which was a great price. I was surprised that we were given a private garage to park in, which is very rare for the city, and deeply appreciated! I loved the mural of flowers and real flowers all over the exterior of the building. The kitchen worked well and had everything I needed (inedible items only). Felt like home for a night. Glad I chose this spot.

Loved this lodging! After staying in many modern though sterile hotels, I very much enjoyed the ambiance and practicality of the Marina Motel. Who would have thought there was a beautiful, QUIET, flower-filled courtyard off of busy Lombard Street where you could park in your own garage as part of your room fee. And NO resort fee. Yes, the rooms are a bit small and a bit of a flash from the past (especially the kitchen), but the owners have strived to make everything comfy and cozy.
The location is fantastic— right around the corner are myriad cafes, shops, coffee spots and an easy walk to the Presidio, Chrissy Field, Fisherman’s Wharf and of course Ghiardelli’s chocolate experience.
If you are looking for a break from forgettable expensive sterile hotels, this is a unique place for you. And the front desk help is superlative!

Loved the staff. Bust street, Small place, Heating an slight problem. But their was a protable heater in the room. Well worth the cost. Free parking in SF is great

What a great location only a few minutes drive from Golden Gate Bridge and on bus route 28 into Fisherman’s Wharf. We had a courtyard room which, although it was cosy, was all we needed for a couple of nights in San Francisco. The bed was really comfortable and the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Being able to park our car on site and not worry about it being safe was a bonus.
We would highly recommend this quirky hotel with a friendly welcome. We’d happily stay again.

If you're spendng time around the Presidio, North Beach, Chinatown, Golden Gate, and Civic Center, this is a good location. Be aware that several of the studios border Lombard St, a very busy street during the day.

You can walk to the bars and Palace of Fine Arts super easily. Parking in the place is such a challenge but as long as you park inside it is safe. Rooms look old but it is the beautiful part of it. Room was so clean and proper. Absolutely recommended for San Francisco:)
