My stay at Hotel Fiona was great. At the time of my stay they were offering free parking, which seems like a rarity in the city, so it was incredibly convenient -- especially knowing that it was an enclosed garage with a security guard.
At check-in the lady helping me could not have been friendlier. My room was also cleaned without requesting, another thing that's pretty rare these days, so I was very happy with the service.
Room was really spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. I don't believe it had a mini-fridge, which I normally prefer, but that was fine. WiFi and TV both worked well. If there's any complaint, my room faced the street, so if you're a light sleeper (I'm not) then you may have trouble with the outside noise.
When you walk out the front door and go to the right towards Howard St and Folsom St, you're in what appeared to be a nice and safe neighborhood. If you go to the left towards Mission and Market streets, you're more likely to see more of the homeless population of the city. However, the neighboring hotels have security guards too, plus there are some good hotels around the corner on Mission St.
Also, there is a streetcar stop at Market & 7th that easily takes you all the way down to the Ferry Building and even Fisherman's Wharf on the Embarcadero -- so that makes getting around without a car pretty easy.
Based on the rate I paid, I would not hesitate to stay here again.
