Hotel Havana

We arrived at 6am on Amtrak. Desk person went all out to accommodate us. Great historic hotel right on the riverwalk. Treated us very well. Rooms are basic but very comfortable. Enjoyed our dinner at Ocho, the attached restaurant. Good food and service.

First time visiting San Antonio. Could not be happier with the hotel & accommodations. Very unique and charismatic property that met all our needs. Staff was wonderful. My girlfriend and I are active and enjoy a conveniently located hotel within walking distance of all the main attractions, of which this is. Book here for wonderful experience and trip!

I decided to write this review because I feel like people should know what they are spending their money on. We recently spent a weekend here and booked directly. We paid around $500 a night in total. I am shocked at how much it was for how poor the hotel is. We could have gone so many other much nicer places for the money. This hotel feels like its more of a motel quality. Its designed to be cute, but it looks more like a fast flip. Floors were chipped, light fixtures had cobwebs on them, the pillows seemed really lumpy and old, everything seemed dirty, there is no coffee maker or kettle in the room, not even a box of tissues. They do leave you two individual tissues on top of the toilet though. Our room was on the second floor and the noise was not too bad but the creaking from someone walking around at 5 am was loud enough to wake me up. My cousin's room was on the first floor and oddly looked into the restaurant which was awkward. She said it was very loud. My husband went to get water to fill up our bottles from the bar and was told it was for bar customers only. I will never stay here again and actively tell people to avoid it. I forgot to take photos of our room but grabbed some from my cousins.

I have stayed here multiple times while visiting for work. Everyone is extremely hospitable and the rooms are great. Amaris in the hotel and Jackie in the restaurant were extremely friendly and professional and made my visits memorable. I would highly recommend Hotel Havana!

Such a beautiful hotel with the best vibes! Customer service is the shining star of Hotel Havana for sure! The staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and we will definitely be returning when we have the chance! Thank you for an incredible stay!

We really wanted to like the Havana more than we did. We are not put off by vintage or even old, but a very dirty and stained rug is more a sign of neglect than charm. The fiber rug in the sitting room had several large stains, one of them a very dark brown. The rug really should be deep cleaned or replaced because it sends a bad message when you first enter the space. There was not a box of tissue in the room (an amenity so common and so expected that its absence was noticeable). We found ourselves literally crawling under tables to find an available plug for device chargers and for my wife’s CPAP medical device. The vintage wall lump above my side of the bed was too close to my head whenever I exited the bed (I’m rather tall) so I used the adjusting screws to raise it a few inches and the shade and socket came apart and I spent many nervous minutes reassembling the lamp. We had our room reserved for 2 people for 2 nights but there was only one wash cloth and one hand towel in the bathroom. There were other small annoyances as well. If you are allergic to or dislike certain aromas you should be aware that the hotel is heavily scented by burning incense. Each one of these issues may seem a small complaint by itself, but added together (along with a couple of unfriendly staff behind the front desk and the price of the room) we wished we had done more research, because in our view the word “elegant” (an adjective used to describe the Havana) is not a word that we would use to rate our experience. Also, if you are traveling with large rolling luggage you will have to carry it up the outside stairs that lead to the lobby for check-in so reconsider the type of luggage you might use for your stay.

Hotel Havana is one of my favorite hotels in San Antonio. I’m a local but whenever my boyfriend and I do staycations, Hotel Havana is the place we almost always choose! The staff are so nice, the rooms are super clean, and the culture of the hotel really shines through the decor. 5 stars all around.

Good place to stay - clean and off the beaten path. Definitely older building and the bathrooms are not luxurious but it’s quirky and clean and easy with good parking. Very cool bar downstairs. I haven’t tried the food. Easy access to the far south end of the River Walk and about a half hour walk to the Pearl, with all the stuff along the way.

It was a great historic property - great location and the room we had was spacious with a great bed. We loved Ocho - and the bar in the basement area had an amazing bartender ( Travis ) who made cocktails to order. We loved our stay at Hotel Havana.
