Salida Inn & Monarch Suites

Very old. Crack big enough in door that the fumes from the vehicle idling in the parking lot came right in. Tiny TV half worked at night, not at all in morning. Light outside window doesn’t allow room to get dark enough at night. Coffee maker in room was broken…Front desk lady was very nice

Decent budget hotel. Inadequate number of desk staff. Obviously well-worn room with a tiny shower.

The stairs to upstairs were filthy and unappealing! The room was clean but the smell of pets kept me from breathing good and sleeping at all. Never again

We had high hopes for our stay at the Salida Inn and Monarch Suites, but unfortunately the experience fell short in several areas. Breakfast: Described as complimentary breakfast, but “breakfast” is a generous term. The spread consisted of prepackaged muffins, toast, bagels, cold cereal, and the only fruit available was apples. Don’t expect anything fresh, hot, or varied. If a real morning meal matters to you, plan to eat elsewhere. Hot Tub: This was a significant disappointment. The hot tub was out of order during our entire stay — something that was never mentioned anywhere on the website or in our booking details. We specifically looked forward to this amenity. Guests deserve to know about this before booking, not after arriving. Room Condition: The bathroom tub had visible stains and was dirty in spots, which is simply unacceptable at any price point. The carpet throughout the room was noticeably worn and dingy — not the kind of tired that comes from heavy use alone, but the kind that suggests it’s well overdue for replacement. Bottom Line: The property may be conveniently located, but the condition of the rooms and the lack of transparency about out-of-service amenities make it hard to recommend. For the rate charged, guests should reasonably expect a clean bathroom and honest disclosure about what’s actually available. We won’t be returning until there are meaningful improvements made.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staffing was absolutely horrible. Five minutes after checking in desk person was gone - waited about 10 minutes and never showed back up. Had explained we made two separate consecutive reservations because of weather and wanted to stay in same room and supposedly was taken care of but the next day we were locked out of our room. Called the phone number on door two times and spoke with a reservation agent who stated she would leave a message (apparently it went to the front desk nobody was manning). After approximately 1/2 hour the maintenance man showed up and contacted someone to help us. So after about 45 minutes we finally made it to our room. The next morning I received another charge on my card for the room we’d already paid for. They stated it was because they hadn’t been paid by ********** and when they got paid the charge would disappear. I have used ********** for many years and have never experienced this before. It’s been three days since we’ve checked out and the charge is still pending on my card. We will definitely stay somewhere else next time we visit Salida.

There always has to be one and I’m it this time. Booked 1 night for basketball tournament and a few days later booked another night because the weather was turning bad. Notified hotel at check-in and via message on website of 2 separate bookings but 2 nights together so we could stay in same room. Chose pay at hotel for first booking and was charged on card full amount 2 days after booking and before our travel. Directly after check-in we went back to the office needing something, waited around for about 10 minutes and nobody showed up, they were gone. After 1st night went out to eat and keys didn’t work on door when we returned. Nobody was in the office or anywhere else. Called their phone number twice and received answering service that stated they’d send a message to the computer nobody was manning. Finally the maintenance guy showed up and he phoned someone to let us in our room after about 30-45 minutes of trying to contact someone. Leaving today and see they’ve double charged us which is pretty irritating after everything else and a night of loose sheets that came off the bed. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but we can hear all the traffic on Hwy 50. I understand things happen and off season but all events combined has become too much. Staying here again is a definite no.

Efficient, helpful and friendly staff. Clean room. Comfortable bed. We were only there for about 12 hours, just to sleep, so didn’t take advantage of any amenities. An excellent value for a clean, comfortable room.

Not a 5 star hotel, but clean, quiet, everything you need for a base camp or a good night sleep

The room was what was described. Very comfortable bed; the kitchenette was very handy. Clean. The hot tub wasn’t working but they let me use their sister property’s hot tub just down the street (also recommend the Salida Aquatic Center - great hot springs soaking pool).
