Karma St. Martin's

酒店介紹裏有Spa和Gym， 抵達後卻被告知SPA是關閉的，Gym不在酒店內。所謂的私人沙灘，看看就好，我們還是到了Upper town碼頭後，才總算體驗了一把沙灘和潮起潮落的感覺。酒店內的地毯味道很大，房間地毯也不是很乾凈。早餐很一般，晚餐價格相比聖瑪麗島要高出40%，口味一般，魚比較柴，週日烤肉裏的牛肉應該是合成肉吧。房間內沒有免費的瓶裝礦泉水（酒店位於Low town，周邊沒有任何餐飲或超市場所），拖鞋需要電話聯繫送來，電話聯繫前台三次裏有兩次無人接聽。離島需要搭船時，酒店推薦快船，同類行業收費50英鎊，酒店從65英鎊到90英鎊不等。 決定搭乘ferry離島，需走山路30分鐘至另一端（upper town）的碼頭，行李倒是可由酒店送至碼頭，客人嘛，是衹接不送的，因為酒店不提供taxi服務。 總言之，酒店不值4000多元一晚的價格吧。

We have visited, and sometimes stayed in, this hotel many times over the years, including under its previous ownership. Karma got off to a troubled start, but we were pleased to see Scott is still the manager, four years after our last visit. He has improved the standard of service immeasurably and everyone we met was pleasant and efficient. We visited three times in our week on St Martin’s, for a sandwich at lunchtime, then for traditional Sunday lunch and later in the week for dinner. Sunday lunch and dinner were both excellent - all credit to the chef. Lunchtime sandwiches much less good. Would be improved with home baked bread( as served with dinner) and a handful of Scilly Organics salad leaves, grown on the island, and most of all by scrapping the dreadful crab Mayo filling ( other reviewers mention this too). The hotel feels calm and friendly but without some real investment by the parent company no amount of effort by the manager and his staff will really lift this hotel. The outside area was so much more attractive under the previous owners - and the pool was open! However, would certainly recommend for Sunday lunch and dinner.

Cannot comment on the hotel side of this establishment. My review is based solely on visiting as a day tripper to St Martins. We called in hoping to get some lunch but I have to say, the prices are extortionate! How can you possibly justify £21 for a crab sandwich? I totally appreciate “island overheads” having visited Scilly many times but these prices are in a different league of their own. Two teas, one slice of carrot cake £17. Totally ridiculous.

The views are absolutely stunning, it’s just absolutely beautiful! Please visit this place for yourself and make up your minds for yourselves! This is our first time here and we are really enjoying and having a great time! The place is very clean, the rooms are nice. The food is lovely and you have a choice! The staff are so good and helpful. For those that are making comments about members, please note that members have paid a premium upfront to become members and then pay ongoing huge costs on a yearly basis! And in my opinion we have every right to experience what we pay for! Well done Karma for another excellent venue! We will definitely come back again.

We had dinner here one evening during our tour of the islands. It is the only hotel on St Martins, and is found on the shore on the western side of the island, right next to Lower Town Quay. It provides a great dining experience with views of the sea. Good food and friendly staff. If you want to dress up for the evening, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Whereas the position of this hotel is 5*, the interior sadly doesn't match up. The hotel is relying on its sea edge location but has neglected to maintain the rooms and public areas to a luxury standard - the rooms are tired and jaded and desperately in need of refurbishment. In particular, the bathroom looked shabby, less than clean and we were provided with cheap looking toiletries which were locked to the wall, not unlike a Premier Inn! Why not use quality local products, which we received at the New Inn on Tresco, which was approximately half the price of a night here! In addition to that, the door handle to both the bathroom and the main door came off in my hand. It's a great shame, because this hotel has a location to die for . The ' lounge' upstairs, a former dining area, looked more like a random furniture store room, despite its beautiful views - woefully run down and under utilised. In the garden area, wooden tables and chairs were provided but they were dreadfully uncomfortable and there were no cushions. There was a single small sofa and table, also without cushions and which looked like it had been purchased from ALDI. As the hotel was right beside the quay, day visitors were using the garden which isn't an issue, but surely a designated area should be set aside for residents who should not be left without a seat at busy times given the premium price charged! The staff were helpful and friendly, the food was good although the restaurant seemed lacking in direction - no-one seemed to be in charge. Management generally seemed to be very much behind closed doors. We thought we had paid a premium price fir a luxury hotel but this is sadly not the case, apart from its position.

A lovely location right by the sea, with great views, pleasant well furnished rooms and a good restaurant. Not inexpensive, but worth it for an occasional treat. Well placed for visits to the other islands.

Wonderful location, attentive, helpful staff. Great food and spa treatments. Dog friendly. Beautiful island, with lovely residents. We’ll be back next year. Great wines by the glass if you want to try something interesting. It’s our dog’s favourite hotel.
