In oktober konden we deze kamers last minute tegen een prima prijs boeken. We hadden geluk met het weer, rond de 30 graden in oktober, en dan is het wel heel fijn zo vlakbij het strand te verblijven. Het hotel is recent opgeknapt en dat zie je terug in de kamers, die licht en modern. Het voordeel van zo dicht bij het centrum is volop restaurants en winkels op loopafstand, het nadeel is natuurlijk wel parkeren. Buiten het hoogseizoen is dat prima te doen (dagkaart voor garage op 400 meter lopen). Het personeel is erg vriendelijk. Wij boekten zonder ontbijt, er is genoeg keuze in de buurt. This was our 6th or 7th stay of between 10 and 14 days at this exceptional hotel. As well as its unrivalled position right on the beach, what makes this hotel stand apart is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. This starts with the booking process, which is not only made a straightforward as possible, but they are perfectly happy to call you in the UK for a last-minute check that they have arranged everything just as you would wish. Nothing is too much trouble for them and everything is done with a genuine smile. Our particular thanks to Mehdi and Jerome who have looked after us for years. This is a privately-owned hotel - and it shows! Recommended unreservedly.

Hotel de la Plage is a great hotel. It is located on the beach of St. Jean de Luz and in the center of the historic are of the town. Restaurants, shops and the beach are all very close. The hotel staff are helpful satisfying your requests and making suggestions for activities. The included breakfast is extensive and available from 7 to a very civilized 11am.

We don't rate friends, we celebrate them. With an optimal promenade location, a cheerful and helpful staff, attractive rooms, secure parking and a decent if not exceptional breakfast, all at fair value, we would gladly return here. Small, family owned and run hotels are, for us, far more enjoyable, than a big name venue no matter how luxurious. In the way of constructive criticism, their wifi is rather intermittent and they really should have at least one English language television channel. As in French hotels, the bathroom lighting is twilight. We are also frustrated with a mini closet with hangar bars at a suitable height for elementary school students. In many ways, they have the best location in town. More importantly, you feel like you belong.

Great staff and special thanks to Mehdi for the extra help during check in. Room was very clean and beautiful ocean front room. Bed was very comfortable and you can see the ocean when you wake up. Walkable to all the good restaurants, 10min walk to train station. I will definitely be back soon!

An excellent stay and what a great team at the hotel. We loved our sea view room and slept in too late to enjoy breakfast both mornings. Totally recommend this fabulous hotel! There is nothing like the sound of the sea whilst you sleep. Thanks also for looking after our motorbike and all of our luggage 🙏

Amazing hotel. Perfectly situated right on the beach, walking distance to everything in town. Clean, well managed, friendly. Everything needed is taken care for. We had a room with a balcony and loved it. If you are in this part of the world, this hotel is the place to stay. Saint Jean-de-Luz is also a great town. We visited Biarritz, Bayonne and San Sebastián with day visits from here. We had a car and all these cities are within an half hour drive. One day we even drove to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim. A bit a long drive but was worth it. We will certainly stay here again if we ever come back to Basque Country. ( I hope we will )

We stayed at Hotel de la Plage for 5 nights as part of a Spain/France/Netherlands vacation. We were there in early September and it was unseasonably hot. We were very thankful for the air conditioning on a couple of the hot afternoons. The room was large and comfortable with gorgeous views from glass doors opening to the balcony. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the chaise or sitting around the table enjoying the sights and sounds . The breakfast room was inviting with a tasty selection of food and good coffee to start the day. We had been traveling for a couple of weeks and were delighted to have our laundry taken care of for a very nominal amount. The staff was always cheerful and helpful. We would love to stay at Hotel de la Plage again on a future trip.
