Booked this hotel trusting all the amazing reviews I saw online, and this is what happened:
Upon arrival the location seemed very weird. Run down buildings with lots of graffiti everywhere. Area seems ok anyway. There are nice places to eat a few minutes walk away.
Our room was on the ground floor and had no windows. The air con can’t be turned on until the end of may (meaning you have to sleep with the door open to have some air -and mosquitoes- come in), the floor was so dirty you couldn’t walk barefoot, and the worst thing that happened: my partner got food poisoning and got sick in bed. Went to reception and called to the number that’s written down for emergencies to ask for a new duvet and things to clean up the room. The guy whom picked up the phone said reception was closed, he was in Milan and there was no one to help me.
So if there’s an emergency there’s no one in the building to help you outside reception hours??
Complained the next morning and the woman in reception was clueless. Didn’t even offer a partial refund. I would have changed hotels that day if it wasn’t for the fact that it was our last night there.
The breakfast wasn’t as good as everyone says. Low quality products. For less € you can have a nice traditional breakfast anywhere else.
When in Rome you want to go back to your hotel and relax to feel like new the next day and keep exploring. In between the heat, lack of air and uncomfortable pillows I didn’t have a single good night sleep.
