Eccelso Hotel

Dit hotel werd aanbevolen door een vriend. Voor deze prijs en locatie had ik geen hoge verwachtingen. Het bleek een onverwachte verrassing. Faciliteiten: De incheckruimte is niet groot. Alle kamers moeten slechts één verdieping hebben. De kamers zijn echter zeer schoon. Als u het raam opent, kunt u de straat zien. Service: Het kleine broertje was erg enthousiast om mij te helpen met het dragen van mijn bagage. Het probleem is dat de deur van het hotel verbonden is met het appartement op de bovenverdieping. Je hebt het wachtwoord nodig om de deur te openen. Ik wist het wachtwoord niet meer toen ik naar buiten ging en ik bleef wachten tot de bewoners van het gebouw opengingen de deur.

Lovely hotel close to everything. We walked everywhere and saw all the sights Trevi fountain, Spanish steps. Some were about half an hour walk away but it was a lovely walk. Only needed a metro for the colosseum. Very modern and clean every day. Hosts were very helpful with tips of the best places to eat. As others have said you can hear noise from reception as the walls are quite thin but this never bothered us. We napped during the afternoon and slept well at night. We were in a room near reception but had no room next door to us though so this may have helped. I really enjoyed my stay here and the room was really big and lovely to return to after a busy day in Rome.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel location was fantastic close to cafes and restaurants, very short walking distance to the Vatican, shops and transportation. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom very clean and comfortable. Room was super hot but we only realised too late that even though they stated a/c would be available from later in the year, it actually worked. They did not clean our used mugs on the first day nor replenish the teabags and there was no milk but these are oversights that happen. One complaint we had is that there is not enough light in the room. Once you open the windows there is good light but you are on complete show to the buildings opposite but at night it is quite dim - very difficult to read in bed. Our biggest issue however is that there is no soundproofing of the rooms at all. Our room was between the reception and another room - if you need a rest in the afternoon as we did as we had left home at 3am you will hear every single thing going on at reception. Once reception is closed that side is quieter however you will hear the person/s in the room next door. We woken up every day of our 3 day holiday extremely early 4.30/5am hearing the person next door either on the phone talking and laughing or taking a shower – it sounded like they were knocking on our wall every time they put the shower on and off the bracket and the last day at the same early hour impossible to believe but true someone who seemed to be wrapping something and we could hear the noise of the tape being torn over and over again. Honestly it's a lovely spot - but if you are a light sleeper or wish to get a good sleep and lie in a bit on your holiday take ear plugs and hope for the best

Avoid this Apartment (It's not a hotel!) I think that the rating is good just because after they ask to put a good rating! First of all, the Eccelso hotel is NOT a hotel. It's an apartment. But you'll pay like it's a hotel. What's even worse is that it is NOT at the address indicated on the website (Via Catone). It's somewhere else 15 minutes walk away from the supposed reception (Via Vaticano), dark and dangerous. So if you arrive to check in, you will have to walk another 15 minutes with your bags to the room. Location: the place is dark and it seems dangerous to walk after dark, as it has a staircase next to it with people who live on the street. Entrance: At the entrance, there is a gate with two dogs (one seems to be of the Pitbull breed) that were often loose at the entrance of the apartment not allowing them to leave or enter. Attendants: They are rude and grumpy. When we arrived (at the address indicated in the reservation) the attendant informed me that the one did not have my reservation at the hotel. It was only after I confirmed the address on the reservation, that he mentioned that it was not at that address but a 15 minute walk away.

Our stay was incredible, we loved our room. Everything was very accesible since is very close to the metro. The staff was polite, nice and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to absoulte everyone. We bought breakfast and for 10 euros we had an amazing croissant, orange juice and capuccino delivered to our room.

Wonderful and unique property. Beautifully appointed. I only wished I had a longer stay but will definitely return to this property when I return to Rome! Thank you Piera e Francesca!

Very nice room and decent size for Rome. The front counter staff is wonderful. They know everything from where to eat to where to catch a train. This is a quiet neighborhood that is about 5 minutes from the Vatican. Plus you can be at the Metro station in 5 minutes and get to anywhere in Rome. Definitely recommend giving them a shot, you will not regret it.

Fabulous hotel. Made an ideal base for exploring. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

Charming hotel. We arrived very late but everything was perfectly arranged for self check in. Beautifully designed in monumental building. You could order simple breakfast which is served to have in the room. We met Anca at reception the next morning who was perfectly charming. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel. Near the metro Ottaviano and 2 mins from the Vatican and St Peters basicila. Within aurelian wall so from the airport it will cost you a fixed 50 euros. Some taxis offer for 40 if you are willing to share with someone else. They prefer cash as you can imagine. However be careful, as our taxi driver drove as a ****** in a taxi that showed it needed petrol. Its wheels were not good either. Thankfully we arrived in 1 piece!
