Garden Hotel

Lovely little Greek hotel not much around, but nice and quiet, rooms good size, basic but fine, pool very big and the best part of the hotel I think. We were half board the breakfast was a bit odd full English, 2 slices tomato, 1 egg, 1 rasher bacon, not my idea of a full english, but hey ho, dinner was decided by a order with 2 options on a piece of paper at breakfast, for starter, main, and dessert, didn't rate the food tbh, alot better further up the road there are a few restaurants, and supermarket etc, entertainment was a bit odd too, bingo and quiz was always a fun night,can tell they have lots of older generation going back year after year, so for a nice quiet week away its fab, if you want a bit more going on around you maybe not a good choice, bus needed or taxi to everywhere. But on the whole a nice get away

Not sure which hotel the previous reviewer stayed at but The Garden hotel is most definitely not run by a brother and sister ! It does however have the most helpful, friendly staff of any hotel I've ever been to. It is basic compared to a modern 4 star hotel and it is away from resorts in the middle of an authentic Greek village but that's what we like about it It has a large pool with more than enough sunbeds and evening entertainment if you want to participate. If you want a hotel straight across the road from the beach with a 101 daily activities and several restaurants choose a different hotel but if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing week in the sun you couldn't choose a better place The sheer number of returning guests year after year show they must be doing something right.

Avoid the food. Wouldn't feed it to my dog. First went here in 2014, the owner was a great guy (and his wife was lovely) but since the son and daughter have taken over.... its now a complete dump. How this young guy can be so arrogant is beyond me. The hotel is falling apart, the business is clearly bad. The daughter is a good person but leaves her brother to make the decisions. Bad idea. Avoid Garden Hotel.

Our second time at the Garden Hotel, Pastida, Rhodes and it just gets better. We booked direct with George this time through the hotel’s website (last time was a Jet2 Holidays booking) and everything was brilliant from our first email to the day we departed. George picked us up at the Airport and it was like meeting an old friend again – that’s what makes a good hotel great. We asked for the same room as we’d had before but that was booked so George gave us next door. The rooms have been refurbished and look great. New mattresses are very comfortable. Air con worked a treat and there’s a kettle so bring your own tea bags. We arrived around 2pm and Micheal greeted us with a hug and made sure we got some lunch. On our first evening we tried the bingo which was fun and Michaela also recognised us from last time. This is such a simple friendly hotel you feel like you’ve never been away. It’s clean, safe, quiet, laid back – just how we like it. Some changes from last time – a great addition at breakfast is the toaster and sliced bread rather than rolls so you can do it just how you like it. Food is simple but home grown, hot, fresh and tasty. The pool has been totally re-vamped with a central fountain, new steps and the depth reduced to just around 1.5m throughout and its immaculately clean. Shame they couldn’t have kept a deep section as that was fun but maybe it’s a local regulation. All the restaurants in the village are unchanged with Epavlis, Skalakia and Massa Grande all serving up excellent food at very reasonable prices. The negative reviews must be from someone who stayed at a different hotel or expect a 5* experience from a 3* hotel. We found all the guests to be very friendly and chatty – mostly a middle aged and older clientele who like a peaceful, quiet and a restful holiday. Thanks again to George, Michael and Michaela for a wonderful week, we look forward to seeing you all again in June 2024.

Well I can honestly say we wernt sure about this place I totally understand why people come back year in year out, The food is all freshly cooked and tasty The Greek yogurt & honey at breakfast was my favourite (just added some nuts bought from the shop) yes the shower there is no curtain but still nice and hot the maid came every day and always made sure we had fresh towels. There was never an issue getting a sun lounger no matter what time of day you went to the pool,There are 2 pools which are amazing. George is always happy to help you and Mike is amazing and the rest of the staff can't do enough to make sure your stay is excellent nothing is too much trouble for them . we would definitely return if you are looking for a nice friendly family run hotel then this is for you and don't mind doing nothing for a week or 2 then this is the place of you are looking for something more to do then there is not alot to do but perfect if you want to do nothing. 5 stars from us. our room over looked the pool area 2nd floor (room 35)

Not a bit like advertised!! Very dated, needs major upgrade more like 2 star. Food poor, lots of extras to pay for i.e. air con, any extra items at breakfast?? Make up on towels €15 ?? Very very clicky, especially Manager with regular guests. Bonuses, pool lovely and spotless, beds clean and comfy. It is in the middle of nowhere and no good without a car if you want to see the island. The two young girl bar staff, Michela and another one were very friendly and pleasant its a pity the manager George could not be the same. Definitely not one to return to.

We stayed for a week on a ‘fly and flop’ holiday with Jet2. As others have said, this is a nice, family-run hotel, with lovely grounds and a huge pool (with separate kids’ pool and jacuzzi). Staff are lovely, place is very neat and clean, drinks and food reasonably priced. Food good (we were half board). Yes, there are only 2 starters and mains choices but it’s varied and wholesome. We only ate elsewhere once to try the taverna 2 minutes away. We walked into the village one night too and there are lots of tavernas and bars to choose from. We had a family room and used the bunks as storage basically, as the rooms are small. But the ceilings are high, there’s a small tv and an under-counter-sized fridge with an ice compartment. We needed the aircon (€40 for the week), even though it was the end of the season. We also paid €14 (per device) for Wi-Fi for the week. I did find the bed too hard for me but this is a personal thing of course. We ended up buying a couple of cheap lilos from the shop and lying on those on the sun beds. I’m not sure what it would be like when bursting at the seams - I caught people putting towels on beds at 7 am and not a German in sight! This is more ‘Cocoon’ than ‘18-30’. The entertainment is a bit ‘Benidorm’ but you can join in, go out or sit elsewhere - it’s what you make of it of course. As others have said, there were a lot of repeat visitors there so they’re doing something right! I don’t think you can go wrong for £500 ish pkg holiday for a week towards the end of season. If you want better, pay more!

This is our second here having first come in June this year. The surrounding gardens are stunningly peaceful and green. The hotel is so clean and the rooms are bright with comfy beds and pillows. In both occasions, our room was ground floor overlooking the pool with terrace and was great and cleaned everyday. George, Mike and all the bar staff are very welcoming and treat you like family. Whilst people say there is not much choice for the meals and entertainment is basic, we always had something to eat and plenty for us. If you want a buffet and to pile your plate high, then this is not for you but if you want home cooked food and a relaxing time then I would highly recommend this hotel. The Stifado and the Greek meatballs were fabulous. We booked direct with George this time round and he is a wonderful host. Drinks are a good price and the Peaches and Cream cocktail is delish 😊 We will definitely be back in June next year. Thank you all
