The Old Bicycle Shop

I stayed here for three nights for work. The guesthouse is handy for downtown but still in a quiet area. The room I had was very nice and comfortable. Bathroom was shared. While I would prefer to have a private bathroom, it wasn't problematic to share it is was just across the corridor from my room. The hosts seemed friendly and helpful.

This guesthouse is a gem! Fantastic location-quiet neighborhood but steps away from great restaurants and shops. Bus stop #8, the waterfront, and city center, are a 5 minute walk away. The house and bedroom are kept very clean (it was cleaned 2x during our 4 day stay) and are well appointed, with comfy beds and bedding, towels and washcloths, spacious room with two twin beds, dresser, wardrobe, and chair. The living area on the first floor includes plenty of seating (sofas and chairs), bookshelves with an incredible display of books; the kitchen includes a large kitchen table and chairs and is stocked with plates, glasses, bowls, utensils, a small refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stovetop, coffee maker, and coffee, tea. There are two bathrooms: one on the first floor with toilet, sink, and bathtub and the second on the second floor with shower, toilet, and sink. This was my first booking with airbnb and I wasn’t sure what to expect but I highly recommend The Old Bicycle Shop if your travels bring you to Reykjavík. The owners were very responsive and provided great tips on things to do.

I've been to Reykjavik twice in the last 4 years and stayed at The OBS both times. Mere blocks away from the bustling main streets of the city; also walkable from the main bus station (10mins). Host(s) are always very responsive, rooms and shared bathrooms are clean, coffee and tea is available in the kitchen. Comfortable and safe, quiet and charming. My new go-to for lodging in the city.

A lovely place to stay, close to centre, loads of character and really nice communal spaces, kitchen and living rooms, bedroom was nice, bit noisy as on the street and walls were very thin, but it’s an older house.

My stay was clean and comfortable. My room was quite small and lacking room to place luggage. Kitchen and social area was very nice and homey.

Very confusing directions came the next day in “how too” get into the property. Unsure of parking situation—a person walking on street helped us by pointing out free parking on weekends. The owner kept messaging me that my credit card numbers were wrong and wanted me to “send them”. ??? This is the reason to use ******* (which I used 4 previous nights) no problem. Owner wasn’t on-site to be able to handle. I’m still trying to figure out what was charged to my card or not?

Lovely place to stay! Quiet and quaint. The host was so kind and welcoming. Perfect place to wind down after a long day of exploring Iceland. Great location, right by Snaps bistro where you can have a fantastic meal!
