Hotel Port-Royal

The hotel was within walking distance to the old part of the city. The food at the hotel was wonderful. The room was so unique with the stone walls. We would definitely book at the Port Royal again.

Staff was very friendly and answered all questions about the area. Room was very comfortable and quiet with a large tub and a great shower!

My son and I had a great time in Quebec. This hotel is quiet, clean, charming and very well situated in the old part of the city. We were able to get some nice walks in while also being close to family we were there to visit. My son had decided to come with me at the last-minute and the staff at the hotel was very accommodating, finding me a more spacious room. There is also parking available which is a huge advantage in that part of Quebec.

We stayed for 3 nights in February. Rooms received cleaning service each day and we loved the heated floors for the bathroom. Location is convenient since we can walk around Old Quebec. Only thing we didn't like was that the windows aren't insulated so even tho they're closed, it gets really cold.

Hotel Port Royal is in proximity to the many shops, restaurants, and museums of Old Quebec. Chateau Frontenac and the Citadel are within walking distance if you can tolerate a few hills. Beware of the icy streets and sidewalks in the winter. They are dangerous. The elderly or disabled will find them unaccommodating. Parking is tight. The lot is narrow and backing can be a challenge without a spotter. During my stay, construction had blocked the entrance and exit during the daytime, making a headache for drivers. The staff asks to hold your keys at the front desk. I thought this was a nuisance. I don't want to ask for my car keys whenever I need to grab something from the trunk or seats. I'm very protective of my valuables, and I don't trust others to drive my car. My room was decent. It was very clean. It had been renovated from an old building, so the floors were creaky and slightly uneven. One of the windows was drafty. But the room had ample heating. The unimpressive view overlooked a busy street in one direction and the parking lot in the other. Traffic was noisy until around 11 p.m. It was not loud enough to disturb my sleep, though. The kitchenette was convenient for preparing meals. It'll save money by allowing you to avoid eating out for every meal. The bed was comfortable. And the shower had good pressure with ample hot water. Hotel Port Royal is nice overall. You won't be awed or impressed, but you'll be satisfied with the value.
