Hotel Villa Maria Pia

Absolutely wonderful hotel. I have stayed here a number of times and will be back again. A must stay on the Amalfi Coast, especially if you want access to the entire coast, as well as Capri, without the huge crowds of Positano and Amalfi. The location, accommodations, view, food, and especially the staff are all fantastic.

This property has it all---great service and staff, lovely rooms and a spectacular setting with views perched high on a cliff!!! We stayed here in Praiano for a week as a base to explore Ravello, Positano and the Amalfi coast. Giulia the manager, her husband Vincenzo and their staff went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. She arranged a water taxi to pick us up in Positano, got us dinner reservations at IL Pirata close by and Vincenzo dropped us off and picked us up for dinner another night. We felt like family. The breakfast on the terrace each morning and drinks in the evening overlooking the moonlit sea were delightful. The lounge and bar area is beautiful and they have a sun deck and comfy areas to relax. Plus the Praiano dock is a short walk to arrange any tours or hop a water taxi to nearby areas. One note, some rooms require stairs and others have an elevator, so state your preference. Highly recommend Villa Maria Pia! Here are some photos!

This stay was amazing for my honeymoon. We wanted to stay close to Positano without the crowds and stairs. This location was incredible, the property was beautiful and quiet and the staff was so friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone. The breakfast exceeded my expectations, i stuffed my face every morning. The restaurant was tasty, only ate there once and ordered the eggplant parmigiana and a pizza- both delicious. You access the property from the main road- no stairs required. If you want to swim in the ocean it’s about 100ish steps down to the bottom where there’s a ladder. Once you’re in the water you’re able to access a grotto- it’s really stunning and so neat. Off the main road is a 2 minute walk to another set of stairs that gets you access to a couple very cute restaurants (we reccomend Il Pirata for day beds and also dinner) as well as another beach with a couple rentals for kayaks and paddle boards. We didn’t venture out much past this beach, “Maria di Praia” but if you can i would go see Fiordo di Furore. We took a water taxi from the hotels beach access to Positano for a day trip it was only €40, we even decided to trek down with our suitcases and take a water taxi to the ferry port to head to Capri next. The room was very clean, had so much charm and comfortable enough for my husband and I. Only heads up is the showers here are very small, but there’s nothing wrong with that! Beautiful room with a beautiful view. They have a private grotto you can swim too. The hotel staff was very helpful. They brought bags up and down stairs so you will not have to worry about that. Their breakfast area has a beautiful view.

One of the best swimming spots on the Amalfi Coast. Great bar and hotel restaurant. But it was the helpful friendly staff that made it even more enjoyable. We had breathtaking views of the ocean and we loved it.

From the moment we walked in we felt so much at home. The staff was incredibly kind and responsive and the room we had was like a slice of heaven with a king size bed, state of the art bathroom and shower with a private balcony with an incredible view of the coast line just over the grotto the property was over. I travel a lot and this is by far one of the best if not the best hotel experience. This is a multigenerational family business and I felt being treated like family as well.

I am normally so so even on vacation but this was different- it was an experience and I can confidently state this is by far one of the best if not the best hotel experience. They showed us to our room and it was like a slice of heaven with a king size bed, state of the art bathroom and superb shower with a private balcony with an incredible view of the coast line just over the grotto the property was build on. . The entire team was responsive to any query and went over and above and always put in a personal touch. My sincere thanks to Nello, Vincenzo and Vincenzo for being so welcoming and Nicolas and the rest of team at the bar restaurant.

We left Villa Maria Pia yesterday after a 7 night stay . This was a positively wonderful hotel for our family. We came to Amalfi Coast to get married in the church in Positano. We needed a nice space for us to get ready and the hotel suggested their family suite with a private terrace. It was absolutely magnificent! It was spotless and beautiful! Our view was spectacular! Our terrace was overlooking the sea! We had a small kitchen and 2 mini fridges. The breakfast was delicious and we looked forward to it every day . The dining area was on a beautiful terrace surrounded by flowers and a direct and close view of the sea. Giullia was extremely helpful when we needed help finding a hair stylist to do our hair for our wedding ..she gave us a terrific recommendation and even drove us to and from the salon in her personal car. We loved the close proximity to the beach and the ease of walking to it.also, the location is extremely central To everything on Amalfi Coast..it’s a quick drive to Positano , Ravello and Amalfi.and also very convenient for water taxis. This family run hotel is exceptional! The entire staff is kind, caring, helpful, professional and experienced! You do not need to second guess your decision- just book it! We promise we will return! Having a private parking lot is a major bonus too!

We recently spent 5 nights at this Italian slice of paradise! We were hoping for the chill Amalfi coast experience in spite of the crazy crowds and this was the PERFECT spot! Guilia and her husband could not have been more welcoming and helpful in my planning and NEVER did they make me feel like I was being high maintenance (and I may have been, but I tried to be respectful and grateful for their help)! The entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Nello and Vincenzo always had us laughing! Our rooms were spotless, comfortable and festive. We had a large patio with chaise lounges, a table, chairs and an umbrella. Paradise overlooking the vast sea. We loved the location on Praiano, right between the bustling towns of Positano and Almafi if you need a fix. The hotel has its own dock, which makes getting a water taxi to either hot spot a breeze (and also a lot of fun). Swimming off the dock into the grotto was a highlight not to be missed! If you’d like a day to chill, hang out at the hotel or walk the path down to the beach club only 10 minutes away. Super fun vibe and tasty food. Lots of great restaurants are nearby as well. The front desk never made a bad recommendation and would help us arrange (or drive us themselves) transportation. We enjoyed walking down the path from the restaurants above us on the cliff - a great way to walk off the carbo load and yet another adventure! If you’re looking for the ultimate “out of the madness” stay on the Amalfi coast (but close enough to join the madness if you so choose), PLEASE don’t overlook the Maria Pia! You’ll feel like family - but it’s the kind you’d love to revisit again and again!
