Oporto Loft

Ik ontdekte dit juweeltje van een hotel per ongeluk, terwijl ik 's nachts langs de Rua Dom Manuel II liep. Ik verbleef daar 6 nachten en het was echt een unieke ervaring: het gebouw zelf is een historisch huis met een ouderwetse charme en volledig gerenoveerde kamers met uitzicht op de meest verbazingwekkende, serene en schaduwrijke tuin. Vanuit een deel van deze tuin opereert een restaurant (KUG) waar lunch en diner van echt hoge kwaliteit worden geserveerd. Het ontbijt is meestal bij de prijs inbegrepen en het is heerlijk. Het belangrijkste van alles is dat de eigenaren en het personeel de meest behulpzame en vriendelijke mensen zijn die van uw verblijf een werkelijk unieke persoonlijke ervaring maken. Wonderful little hotel with many 5** attributes. Fabulous bed, linens, bathroom and curtains in an old home remodeled into a B&B. The breakfast features a nice selection of Portuguese pastries, fruits and cheeses. It is located a bit away from the main tourist attractions, without a lot of restaurants close by, but on a Main Street that is on the Hop on/ Hop off bus route. It’s proximity to the Palacio de Cristal is a huge plus!

Located away from the main tourist area but east to walk to anywhere in Porto or even Gaia if you are a walker. Room was comfortable and located at the back of house overlooking a lovely garden. Had to rearrange the items on the dresser to have a place to put suitcase. Room to hang some clothing and a small safe. The restaurant that shares the garden is quiet so doesn’t disturb the bedrooms. An amazing breakfast is included in price. Staff very attentive

Centrally located with walking access to most sites. Building is old, but very well kept. The beds were comfortable and the linen clean. The on-site restaurant is excellent. There is parking nearby, but on a busy Saturday night it might be a problem finding a space.

Lovely refurbished building. Our room was unique; a door off the entry that took you to a small sitting room and stairs up to the bed and bath. Very nice; comfortable bed, good ventilation, great shower and a sitting area balcony overlooking the garden and restaurant. They offer a lovely buffet breakfast and Annabella and staff were very accommodating. And we discovered how incredible the restaurant, Jangal, is. Incredible menu, newly opened. Truly a great experience not to be missed.

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the Oporto Loft Art Hotel in Late August. This boutique B&B is in a quite old refurbished home in the heart of Porto’s historic center. As I recall, it has five rooms / suites and each is quite different. We stayed in #3 which is on two floors. The living room is on the first floor and you climb a fairly steep “L" shaped staircase to get to the bedroom / bathroom suite. All of the rooms are somewhat odd shaped with angled walls and tall ceilings. Due to the irregular shape of the rooms, they are somewhat cramped in places, but still comfortable. Our room had a window/door onto the balcony which overlooks the back yard / garden which is very nice. The bed was very comfortable. Across from the bed is a standing mirror that incorporates a built in TV. A good space saver and pretty nifty, however, there is very little in the way of English programming to choose from. I should note that the bathroom is small and the floor is higher than the bedroom floor. The entrance presents a trip hazard. My wife did trip on it and slightly injured her arm as she fell against the sink. In lower level there is a mini-fridge that is stocked as well as coffee, wine and other items. There is also a price list and it appears that if you want any of these items (even coffee) they will be added to your bill. On the first floor is the breakfast room and breakfasts consist of an attractive array of fresh fruits, breads and pastries, meat and cheese as well as a full complement of beverages. The adjacent kitchen also is the kitchen for the restaurant called Jangal which is a fine dining place with very nice seating in the back yard gardens. Overall, Oporto Loft is a very pleasant and convenient place to stay with very friendly and helpful staff. If we make it to Porto again, I think I would stay there again.

We stayed for 9 nights in Portugal and 3 were at Oporto Loft. The location is good and the breakfast simple but nice. The B and B is a historical home that was updated many years ago. We stayed in room #1 with no issues and #3 where I had an allergy to something in the room since I didn't have the symptoms anywhere else but that room.. I wasn't able to move rooms due to the hotel being full. We upgraded our travel package to 4 star places to stay but I am marking them down based on the cleaning and they are more like a 3-2.5 Star place. There are many areas they could do better with but they are a Mom and Pop business so I will leave it at this in hopes they can work on cleaning their units better.

It is a beautiful old mansion carefully converted to a guest house, with a large peaceful rear garden of mature orange trees. Perfect for breakfast in the sunshine. The breakfast was lovingly prepared fruits, meats cheeses, yoghurts, pastries, coffee etc. The rooms had high ceilings, chandeliers, old wood panels and antique fittings creating a feeling of grandeur. Large windows opened to the garden, and were triple glazed so nights were silent. It's 15 minutes walk to the bustle of town, and just across the road to the serene Crystal Palace gardens, with great views over the river. The staff were cheerful and very helpful, offered airport pickup and stored our bags for the last day (and when we left, ran after us down the street with forgotten sunglasses!) We loved it here and hope it is available for out next trip to Porto.

Lovely, old home in Porto near the beautiful public gardens of the Palacio Cristal. Wonderful hosts in a place that is funky chic, esp the great garden where you can bring your glass of wine to sit. 20 min walking from most sites.
