Antares Bush Camp, and in particular Umgede Hide is an absolute must visit! You will have the opportunity to get eye level with some of Africa’s most iconic species. Making I contact with an elephant just meters away from you is something that just can’t be described! It is a photographers dream, but even if you’re not a photographer, you can still marvel in the most amazing animal encounters at the waterhole, all from the safety of the hide. I couldn’t leave because you just don’t know who will visit next, but there is plenty to keep you entertained if you need a break from the hide, like the amazing deck area and pool, Ian is the perfect host and has all the knowledge you need to make the most of your stay. My advice, book today! You won’t be disappointed.

We had a fabulous couple of days .. (not long enough!) The accommodation was very comfortable and exceptionally clean.. Stunning location we saw so much wildlife at the waterhole and on the reserve 😊

Umgede hide is well-designed, equipped and comfortable, the potential close-range experience at eye-level with wild animals is breath-taking. The house, in close proximity to the hide, allowing us to make use of the photographic hide whenever we wanted, is also well-designed, clean and well-equipped. The rooms have comfortable beds. Sleep quality was not good for us, as we were hardly in bed, not wanting to miss out on any activity around the hide...

A beautiful lodge nestled in the greater Balule Big-5 Reserve. The lodge is very well appointed with so much room to relax in. An awesome view of the Umgede Underground Hide from the deck of the lodge, you won’t miss a thing. Great hosts, Ian and Mel Owtram. We will definitely be back.

Ian Owtram and his staff provided a fabulous experience with outstanding accommodations. Fascinating to see wild animals in their natural habitat, so close in the hide. Lounging one afternoon watching a giraffe graze leaves from the trees on the property. Make Antares Bush Camp & Umgede Hide a must on your Safari tour. You won’t be disappointed. 100% happy with our stay at Antares Bush Camp - Umgede Hide. Owner, Ian Owtram is a gentleman, a scholar, and an outstanding host and guide. Our conversations with him remain bright in our memory. The accommodations were perfect - clean and comfortable. Dinner and relaxation at the brai were highlights, the game drives were productive for serious photographers, and then there was Umgede Hide. What a marvel. Perfectly set up for great wildlife photography and comfortable overnight vigils. Can't wait to go back!

Had a fantastic weekend with photographer friends. The lodge is clean and well designed. Service was impeccable. Host Ian was very professional and a fantastic host. His knowledge of animals and the bush made the game drives special. Umgede hide is next level and we'll equipped with comfortable office chairs and gimbles and bean bags. A coffee station with a fridge for coffee very handy. There is an inverter with full wifi in hide as well. We had multiple visits by elephants and a leopard on Friday night. Great photos!! Will definitely recommend to all my photographer friends.

When travelling to Antares Bush Camp we had high expectations, but when we arrived, we could not believe our eyes. The camp is set up so beautifully, and the photographic hide is perfect. Elephant come to drink almost every day, and we had some nice herds of elephant coming to drink. Ian also was very helpful and a great host. Thanks for everything. We really enjoyed our stay at Antares Bush Camp and we will be back!

Antares Bush Camp is situated in the Balule Reserve. A wonderful setting with a photographers eye level hide is per photographic paradise. Self-catering or catered, allows for a wonderful bush visit. Well appointed lodge and rooms, this certainly a lodge to visit
