The Elgin Mount Pandim - Heritage Resort & Spa

A lovely period, heritage hotel in Pelling. After a long and 'interesting ' drive on the mountain roads we were great full to arrive at this little peaceful oasis. It's beautifully situated on the steep hill side, close to a number of interesting sites (walking distance) with lovely, well-tended gardens - beautifully manicured and perfect for enjoying afternoon tea. The lounge and bar area evoke the style of the 1930s/40s - perfect for relaxing with a g&t. The dining room though is bright and featureless - a disappointment. It's possible though to eat on the terrace away from the noise of the dining room (why do people want to share their video-calls with everyone?). It's not an intimate dining room - catering for families and groups. The food is fine - good selection and well prepared. But the menu is perhaps too big - trying to be too international. I'm not a fan of buffet food and I guess it's my fault for opting to try it...it was fine but I don't like some dishes being luke-warm nor others stirring through my food. Not all dishes claimed were available either. The bedroom (deluxe) was quite small, but adequate for a 2 night stay. It would benefit from some refurbishment, as could the bathroom. All dated rather than in keeping with period of the hotel. The bed, though very large, was also very hard and uncomfortable. The ensuite bathroom did need modernising. However I forgive these things in a hotel like this - i don't want my hotels to lack character. The staff, of course, were all fabulous and helpful!

We arrived late evening after a long drive. The entire staff is warm and welcoming. The Elgin is beautifully situated and the perfect place to relax, read and take in the awesome views of Kangchenjunga. Rooms are beautifully appointed and maintained.

We had a great time. The rooms were very comfortable and the service was excellent. The place was clean and would certainly like to come back. The service staff, Suprina,Choden,Norkey, Prabhakar, Suvasish are very helpful and ever ready to help with a smile Thanks to everyone we had a fantastic time

Magnificent view . Nice grounds. Good food in restaurant but poor service. We waited an hour for our dinner. Building Has seen better days. Hotel rooms Need a refresh. Bathroom was unpleasant. Janky cabinet and burping drain in floor which over flowed when upstairs was taking a shower ( I hope not when they were flushing toilet) . Informed staff . Facility seemed cleaned but because wear and tear, didn’t feel sparkling. Bed comfortable. ask for Mr view side… what makes hotel tolerable at high price.

Wonderful location, amazing staff, decent food. Huge rooms and 1 BHK size bathrooms. Lot of heritage and history. Express check in. It was cold that night. Heater was already kept on before we arrived. Restaurant staff never refused anything. Went out of their way. Thank you Mr. Mukherjee, Namita, Shubash, Choden, Norkey, Sangeeta, Suprina and all the other kids.
