The traditional tatami flooring and comfortable futon bedding provided an authentic experience without sacrificing comfort. One of the standout features of Shoho is its exceptional onsen facilities. Soaking in the natural hot springs while gazing at the picturesque scenery was incredibly rejuvenating. The rotenburo (outdoor bath) offered a tranquil escape where the stresses of daily life simply melted away. We were just a short drive from the iconic Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan's most beautiful original castles. Strolling through the historic Nakamachi Street with its classic white-walled storehouses turned boutique shops and cafes was a delightful way to spend an afternoon. In addition to its proximity to cultural sites, Shoho serves as a great base for nature enthusiasts. The nearby Kamikochi Valley offers stunning hiking trails that showcase the unspoiled beauty of the Japanese Alps. Returning to the comfort of the hotel after a day of exploration was something we looked forward to, especially knowing a soothing onsen soak awaited us. "In 10 minutes you ar in the train station; the hotel is quite nice, and personal really realy nice, they help us with the luggage service transport. The breakfast is mostly japanese dishes, but you are in Japan! :D good amenities even with face mask! Washing and drier and detergent is free bu should have more instructions, it takes so much to dry and maybe because didnt use properly due lack os instructions"

"The hotel is showing its age. Furniture is dated & the beds were VERY hard. There was a Big step up into the bathroom from the room which is difficult if your a senior like my wife & I. The front office staff were friendly and helpful."

"A very satisfying stay with an excellent onsen and delicious breakfast. This is always my first choice when visiting Matsumoto. The hotel is conveniently located—just a 5-minute walk from the train station and 3 minutes from the bus station. The traditional Japanese tatami-style rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable.
