Hotel Hacienda El Salitre

This place is incredible peaceful. We had a great stay, the bar is super cozy at night, the breakfast has a wide variety of local dishes and yummy options for kids. The staff is very friendly and kind. And last, it is very well located far from city noise but close to touristic places.

"You get what you pay for", words we have all heard at least once in our lives, right? I hope my review will prove just how true those words are. My husband and I arrived in this magical place, still upset over the horrible experience we had just escaped from in a different hotel in the same town. So bad was our experience there, we needed something special to wash away that bad memory, so we chose Hacienda El Salitre in hopes to achieve just that. Quite literally, we took a breath of fresh air as we arrived in this absolutely magnificent countryside hotel in the outskirts of town, where smiling pages met us at the car to welcome us. "We have been expecting you, we're here to make your experience at Hacienda El Salitre a wonderful one". We both looked at each other and breathed a sigh of relief in amazement over the immense difference aready. From the breath-taking view and location to the warm welcoming, we knew we had chosen well. We had arrived hours early and were prepared to have to wait until check-in, but to our pleasant surprise, the accommodating front desk staff happily checked us in 5 hours early. Whoah, three for three, we thought! We were ushered to our room, and judging by the apologetic agent on the phone who had taken our reservation the night before, we were expecting an unimpressive room, the last one, we were told, in a fully booked hotel. However, what we found was a  perfectly decorated, welcoming, rustic but otherwise gorgeous room promising a wonderful stay. We couldn't wait to plunge into the thermal pool just outside our room, so we changed into our swimsuits and gladly used the bathrobe and swimcap we found neatly folded on the bed. A couple of cocktails and yummy appetizers ordered poolside, and we were all set for a lovely afternoon. The grounds themselves are magnificent, as this hotel is now were a once luxurious Spanish colonial home provided safe heaven to freedom fighter Simon Bolivar prior to the colossal battle known to have sealed Colombia's independence from the Spanish crown. So, enjoying our time at the pool amidst all the beauty, grandeur and tranquality was not difficult to achieve. Every moment thereafter was part of a long chain of beautiful memories we will cherish for ever. From the beauty and peace this place offers, to the impeccable service, excellent food and helpful staff, our stay at this incredible hotel will always be at the top of our list. So, we saved a couple of dollars at the previous place, but the experience was terrible, while at Hacienda El Salitre, we were happy to splurge a bit to get an excellent value for our money, proof that you get what you pay for. We highly recommend this hotel and everything that you can experience while there. You will be glad to splurge too. You deserve it.

This hotel was recommended to me by a family member. My first impression of the hotel is that it was beautiful; the magnificent eucalyptus tree and the building were astonishing. We were traveling with 7-month-old babies (twins) and I have to say it was difficult to move around with the stroller (we knew ahead of time that the hotel wasn’t so stroller friendly, so we were prepared with carriers). The hotel has some history which is interesting to learn. The employees will gladly tell you about how Simon Bolivar stayed here a few days between the battle of Pantano de Vargas and the Battle of Boyaca to strategize and rest. It was incredible to be able to spend a night in such a historical place. With history come old buildings; although the hotel is old, I found that the building was well maintained (unlike many of the pictures shown). I would have liked for the bathroom to be just a bit more updated, but the room was clean. We were not able to use the pool as we were staying for only one night and the pool is cleaned on Mondays and Thursdays. The food during breakfast was just okay. The service was excellent overall

I've been here since the 90s and this hotel has always been the best place to stay in Paipa. It has all the comfort of a good hotel but you will sleep in rooms that has been there for centuries, since the place is an historical building with a lot of history. The decoration, food and staff are excellent. The hotel includes a pool of hot spring waters and a spa, perfect for a relaxed visit.

Excelente atención, un lugar acogedor, bonito, aire puro, tranquilo, para descanso y vacaciones. En familia o con amigos. Habitaciones de época. Piscina de agua termal impecable. Personal muy agradable y servicial Comida muy buena Súper recomendado

Hermoso hotel colonial ubicado muy cerca del Lagos Sochagota, con servicio de alimentos y bebidas sin inigualables Fuimos de pasadia, disfrutar la piscina termal, esperamos poder alojarnos algún día. Gracias a Yolima, quien nos atendió muy bien desde que hicimos la primera llamada. Y también a Alejandra la persona de la piscina.

Una grata experiencia, con historia, buena ubicación muy tranquilo, lo vienen remodelando conservando su esencia, maravilloso que tenga piscina termal , las habitaciones cómodas, personal muy amable, comida buena al igual que las bebidas.

Un lugar mágico, hermoso. Si visitas esta zona para conocer sobre la ruta libertadora, esta hacienda es paso obligado. Acá pernoctó Bolivar con sus tropas 2 días antes de la batalla de Boyaca y todo el hotel evoca a Bolivar combinando de manera perfecta la tradición y la elegancia. Tiene piscina termal, la carta del restaurante es exquisita. La atención del personal es inmejorable. 100% recomendado

Muy desilusionada de mi experiencia aqui. Reserve por dos noche la habitacion con termal incluida. Esta habitacion no tenia fotos en du pagina web, pero imagine que iba a ser parecida a las otras que muestran en su pagina. Costo 460mil pesos la noche con desayuno incluido. Cuando llegue a hacer el check-in me dijeron que la termal de afuera estaba fuera de servicio y no la podia usar por el dia, osea me estan cobrando el precio de la termal de afuera pero esta fuera de servicio?…bueno igual tenia una en la habitación no hay problema. Voy para la habitación que reserve y no era nada de lo que esperaba. Una habitación en un sotano casi cueva, sin aire, y llena de moho en las esquinas y super caliente. Con ese calor y sin una ventana en esa habitación nos ibamos a ahogar al dormir. Pedi cambio de habitación y lo que recibi a cambio fue, “pues no tenemos otra asi por que estan en reparación , pero los puedo mover a una habitación normal sin termal pero no tendran lo que pagaron” a este punto aceptamos. Nos movieron para un piso que no era una cueva escondida y que tenia mas logica de habitación de hotel. Ahora en esta habitación por alguna razon el wifi no funcionaba. Intentamos varias cosas y nada funciono. Nos toco salir y sentarnos literal en piso para poderse comunicar. La gente que trabaja en el restaurante 10/10 muy amables y coordiales. La señora de la recepción, realmente una decepción total, nunca le importó encontrarnos solucion o ayudarnos en nada. Tan disgusta quede que no me quede las dos noches y me fui. Nunca pude usar ninguna termal, ni disfrutar de nada de lo que pague. Si piensa venir aqui solo le recomiendo ir a comer o a desayunar no recomiendo para nada quedarse aqui. Realmente una estafa, guarde su plata y vaya a otro lugar.
