Soi One Boutique Bedrooms

The rooms have some appealing decor and central location but that is where the pluses end in my book. If your primary reason for renting a room is a need to rest and sleep then you might be better off looking for a different venue. The rooms are adjacent to Pai Siam restaurant owned by the same owner which holds daily live music performances until midnight (when I stayed there at least). The noise both from the band as well as from cheering crowd penetrates your bedroom with such ease that you might as well join the crowd downstairs. The owner Carlo assured us that the live music stops at 10pm but it went on till midnight. In addition the bedroom windows were facing the street where night market takes place each evening so on the top of the live music noise you get the street noise that goes on till midnight as well. As the guesthouse is located on the Main Street you will be also exposed to frequent noise from passing by scooters with finely tuned custom exhaust pipes. when inquired about how long the music noise will last and if this is one off or regular occurrence Mr. Carlo suggested that if I don’t like the room I can look for a different place and he can refund the second night which was nice I guess and I took his advice. The room despite undoubtedly esthetic touches had some design quirks as well. For instance the only tower hanger in the bathroom overlaps with butt spray causing towel to touch it… The vanity mirror light was also not working. The fridge in the room that I was at first convinced it was part of the vintage room decor was actually intended for use however there was mold and smell inside so it is best left alone. While the room can be suitable for people that don’t go to sleep before midnight and are not bothered by noise I personally will pass on decor and likely choose more quiet place next time.

A nice place to stay, as it is the most happening corner of Pai. The only issue was that there is noone available at reception in the night and till 8 am in the morning. So if you need anything during those times, then its an issue. However the family room is supercool, it has a small area in the front and opens up to the main restaurant. It has all these traditional wooden things, gives you that nostalgic vibes. Overall a great place to stay, eat and drink.
