Paraa Safari lodge is een authentieke, koloniale lodge, prachtig gelegen aan de uitgestrekte Nijl. Het is een ruime lodge met een mooi zwembad met bar, die uitzicht geeft op de Nijl en middenin het Murchison Falls National park ligt. De wilde dieren komen zelfs tot in de lodge! (Werden ‘s morgensvroeg begroet door een verdwaalde hippo in de wandelgang richting receptie) Mooie game drives en ideaal om een privé (aan te raden) boottocht op de Nijl te maken. Nog nooit zo dicht bij de hippo’s en olifanten kunnen komen! Het eten was verzorgd en lekker, niet heel bijzonder. Zeer vriendelijk personeel en propere kamers. Uniek uitzicht op de Nijl! We kwamen aan met Valentijn en er stond een uitgebreide bbq klaar met nadien nog een gezellige drink aan de vuurput… ideale lodge om uw toer in Uganda te starten!

Tijdens de drie daagse tour van African Adventure Travellers, hebben wij gekozen voor hotel Paraa. De duurste optie. Bewust, met de hoop een beetje extra service en comfort te krijgen. Eerlijkheidshalve is dat sterk tegengevallen. Je betaalt erg veel geld per nacht voor matige service, matige eten (in buffet vorm) en zeer standaard kamer waar je bijvoorbeeld douched met een douchegordijn die zo dicht op je douchekop zit dat die lekker aan je lichaam plakt. Wel een kamer met een FANTASTISCH uitzicht op de Nijl! Wij waren niet extreem onder de indruk en de prijs/kwaliteitverhouding bij dit hotel is ver te zoeken. Niet dat het niet goed is, maar voor het geld dat je betaalt, is het slecht te noemen. Ze zitten op een unieke plek en met weinigen direct in het park (zodat je voor je safari niet eerst uren moet rijden), maar van dat voordeel maken ze ook gretig gebruik in hun prijsstelling. De kamers zijn schoon, net als de rest van het hotel. Het is echter verouderd en in die vorm niet onderhouden. Het zwembad is oké, maar zou bijvoorbeeld ook wel een likje verf en nieuwe roosters kunnen gebruiken. Het barretje dat je in iedere gave film ziet, was daar, maar niet bemand. Je eet vanaf een verhoogd terras die je een fantastisch uitzicht geeft. Tijdens een van de avonden zijn we getrakteerd op een nijlpaard die langs het zwembad liep, een bijzondere ervaring! Het is een prima hotel en als je midden in het park wil zitten eigenlijk de enige optie. De prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding klopt niet, maar kennelijk betaal je veel voor het unieke plekje in plaats van voor service. Het was fijn geweest dat ze nog iets meer geld vroegen, maar dan ook ui**untende service en top eten boden. Dat had beter bij de plek gepast…

Apart from the amazing Murchison Falls National Park, the Paraa Lodge Pool and bar are great. Whilst the lodge is due an upgrade - it is being planned for we hear - but the lodge is still comfortable and fully functional. Food has improved measurably in the last few months (i've stayed at the lodge a lot), with the new GM really focused on improvements. The staff are always smiling and helpful, and the welcome to the lodges is always with a lovely cool face towel and refreshing fruit juice. Our kids and family enjoyed everything - a great balance between safaris, swimming and rest.

I stayed here in March 2024 for one night. I was here on business but was able to enjoy the hotel and a safari operated by the hotel. The hotel is well kept. A traditional African style. Lots of wood and clean. The room was spacious and comfortable. I used the big fan next to my bed. Otherwise it would have been very hot. The view from my room was fantastic. Would definitely recommend the safari. The guide Hillary was great. Very knowledgeable and we seen all the animals (including the big 4). Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay very much.The view from our room was breathtaking...can see the Nile plus a gorgeous swimming pool with a bar.We swam there as often as possible and loved it. The food choice was limited but good.Staff were friendly and welcoming,and the manager introduced himself to us and we had some chit-chat. The rooms are large but perhaps a bit dated. They also offered toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom as well as a shaving kit which I thought was a handy touch. All in all a pleasurable stay.

This should really be a 4.5. When we arrived, very tired after a long journey, the first thing we did after dumping our bags was go to the restaurant for dinner. That night it was a buffet, mainly indian food, and there was hardly anything left at 8.30 pm. When we asked if the trays were going to be replenished we were told no. I ended up with what I think was a vegetarian curry (the lighting was so dim). It tasted OK but I'm not a vegetarian. As we we were leaving we saw them replenishing the trays! The rooms (especially the bathroom), as others have mentioned, are very jaded and in serious need of updating. However the room was clean, the beds were comfortable and everything worked. The outlook from the balcony, over the pool and the Nile beyond was special. The majority of the staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Walter behind the bar. After the first night's bad experience the food got better - a la carte waiter service and a much better choice. We had a dip in the pool which was clean with comfortable loungers and fresh towels. The pool bar was great too!

What a fabulous place to stay on our first adventure at Murchison Falls National Park. Quiet quaint. BIC Tours booked us at the Lodge. The staff and service was spot on. We saw al sorts of wildlife including 4 leopards who 4 feet from our van. WOW!

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely couple of days in the lodge this month with attentive care and very friendly staff members always on hand to help out. The property was a delight and we could hear the hippos moaning to each other and the calls of numerous birds from our room and throughout the property. The restaurant had some delightful views and you had the option of eating outside on a balcony (with view of the Victoria Nile) or inside in air conditioning. Food was available to suit European/American and local Ugandan palates and there was always plenty of it. I was delighted to find decent filter coffee (instead of that pervasive Americano stuff) and a wide range of fresh juices and drinks. Our room was clean and very comfortable with a delightful balcony and comfy chairs set up on it. A couple of things we suggest for future use: please fix the lock on the door to room 14 was loose and hard to operate, and balcony door too was hard to push open or shut. We also felt that the food was slightly under par at times for the price being paid at the lodge. Although plenteous, some items were rather bland and seemed to be prepared in a hurry (e.g. bones in the fish fingers that were not really “fingers”, etc.). Also the very nice swimming pool needs to be cleaned more often—there were leaves in the pool several days old and there was an oily scum on the surface and no shower visible for guests to use to comply with the request we shower first before entering the pool. Frankly, I did not want to get into the pool again. These are suggestions to raise the bar on the lodge’s standards and otherwise great services.

This was such a relaxing place to end our 12 days in Uganda. The grounds are very well kept, the staff were very hospitable, and the food was excellent. Our favorite place to relax was by the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the Nile River.
